Enduring social progress is shaped by initiatives that strengthen communities from within, creating opportunities that extend well beyond immediate assistance. With growing expectations from corporate philanthropy to deliver measurable and sustainable outcomes, organisations are increasingly adopting community centric approaches that combine education, healthcare, environmental stewardship and social inclusion to drive meaningful transformation. Such integrated interventions are becoming critical to advancing India’s broader development aspirations while ensuring that vulnerable communities are not left behind.

In this interview with TheCSRUniverse, Mr. Pradeep Aggarwal, Founder & Chairman, Signature Global, discusses the philosophy that guides Signature Global Foundation’s CSR initiatives and the importance of balancing scale with meaningful community engagement. He shares insights into flagship programmes such as Project Paathshaala, Jagruk Beti Swastha Beti, AarogyaRise and Roots for Change, highlighting how the Foundation is working to improve educational access, preventive healthcare, women’s empowerment and environmental sustainability. He also reflects on why genuine social impact cannot be measured by numbers alone, emphasising the role of dignity, confidence, behavioural change and community trust in creating lasting change.

Q. Corporate philanthropy is increasingly expected to create long-term social value rather than short-term interventions. How does Signature Global Foundation define meaningful impact, and what philosophy guides your approach to creating sustainable change across communities?

A. At Signature Global Foundation, meaningful impact is about creating opportunities that improve people's lives in a lasting way. Our work focuses on education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, and environmental sustainability because these are the building blocks of stronger communities. We believe real change comes through consistent efforts, working closely with communities, and supporting them beyond financial assistance. Our aim is to build an ecosystem where people have access to opportunities, dignity, and a better future.

Q. Many CSR initiatives struggle to balance scale with depth. As Signature Global Foundation continues to expand its footprint, how do you ensure that growth does not come at the cost of community engagement, quality of implementation, or lasting behavioural change?

Start Your Journey with BigDisha

A. Our focus has always been on meaningful engagement with communities. As we expand our initiatives, we continue to work directly with beneficiaries and local partners to understand their needs. Whether it is education, healthcare or environmental programmes, we aim to create long-term value by staying connected with communities and ensuring our initiatives address real challenges. We believe sustainable impact comes from consistency, collaboration, and community participation.

Q. Education forms the cornerstone of your social initiatives through Project Paathshaala. Beyond improving school infrastructure, how do you ensure that these interventions strengthen children’s confidence, learning outcomes, and overall educational experience in a sustainable manner?

A. Project Paathshaala is about creating a better learning environment for children. Along with improving school infrastructure, we provide uniforms, school bags, stationery, and essential kits so that students have the basic resources they need to attend school with confidence. We also recognise and reward meritorious students from low-income families, encouraging them to continue their education and perform well. Our long-term goal is to ensure that children are not left behind in India's growth story.

Q. Project Paathshaala has benefited over 80,564children across 78 government schools. Could you share some measurable outcomes or impact indicators that demonstrate how the programme has influenced school attendance, student performance, teacher engagement, or learning environments?

A. Project Paathshaala has reached over 80,564 children across 78 government schools in Gurugram and Delhi-NCR. Through this programme, students have received uniforms, school bags, stationery, winter kits, and improved school infrastructure. The Foundation also recognises deserving students to encourage academic excellence. While we continue to track the programme's progress, our focus remains on creating better learning environments and expanding the initiative to reach one lakh students.

Q. Your initiatives such as Jagruk Beti, Swastha Beti and AarogyaRise address challenges that often remain invisible until they become crises. How important is preventive healthcare and awareness-building in your overall CSR strategy, and what lessons have emerged from working directly with vulnerable communities?

A. Preventive healthcare is an important part of our CSR approach. Through Jagruk Beti, Swastha Beti, we provide adolescent girls with hygiene kits, healthcare awareness, nutrition counselling, and regular health check-ups so they can make informed decisions about their health. Through Aarogyarise, our mobile medical units bring healthcare services directly to underserved communities, making quality healthcare more accessible. These initiatives have reinforced the importance of awareness, early intervention, and taking healthcare closer to the people who need it the most.

Q. Signature Global Foundation’s environmental initiatives go beyond tree plantation by emphasising community ownership and long-term stewardship. In your view, what distinguishes a meaningful sustainability programme from a symbolic environmental campaign, and how do you encourage communities to become active custodians of these efforts?

A. For us, sustainability is about creating lasting environmental awareness, not just planting trees. Through Roots for Change, we have committed to planting 25,000 trees while encouraging schools and local communities to actively participate in plantation drives. Along with this, our cleanliness campaigns, public sanitation initiatives, and access to clean drinking water encourage people to adopt sustainable habits. We believe lasting impact comes when communities take ownership of these initiatives.

Q. As a real estate-led foundation, you have the opportunity to influence both physical infrastructure and social infrastructure. How do you see these two dimensions complementing one another in creating resilient and inclusive communities for the future?

A. Physical infrastructure and social infrastructure go hand in hand. While better buildings and facilities improve people's surroundings, investing in education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, and environmental sustainability helps communities grow stronger from within. Through our initiatives, we aim to create opportunities that improve both the quality of life and the future prospects of the communities we serve.

Q. CSR is often evaluated through numbers, but its deepest impact is frequently reflected in transformed lives. How does Signature Global Foundation balance quantitative metrics with qualitative indicators such as dignity, confidence, behavioural change, and community trust while assessing the success of its programmes?

A. Numbers help us understand the scale of our work, but they are only one part of the story. Our programmes are designed to improve people's lives by giving them better access to education, healthcare, and opportunities. We also value the confidence children gain through education, the dignity experienced by women through our empowerment initiatives, and the trust we build with communities through continued engagement. These are equally important indicators of meaningful impact.

Q. Can you share the case studies that beautifully illustrate the programme’s impact? Are there other student or teacher stories that particularly moved you?

A. There are many stories that stay with us because they remind us that even small interventions can create lasting change.

One that I often think about is the experience shared by a teacher from Government Senior Secondary School, Akhera. She said that while schools regularly host awareness sessions, this one felt different because, for the first time, many girls felt comfortable asking questions about health and hygiene without fear or hesitation. She noticed a visible change in the confidence of her students. As she beautifully put it, "The initiative didn't just educate the girls. It empowered a school."That truly reflects what we hope to achieve.

We have also seen inspiring journeys of individual students. For example, girls like Saloni, Aarti and Pooja, who participated in our Jagruk Beti, Swastha Beti programme, became more confident after receiving health awareness, counselling and dignity kits. They began attending school with greater confidence, openly discussing topics that were once surrounded by silence, and even encouraging their friends to do the same.

Another memorable story is that of Arjun, a Class XI student who had never used a computer before. Through our digital learning initiative, he discovered a new world of opportunities. Today, he dreams of becoming a graphic designer and is exploring online learning resources to build that future. Seeing a young student move from uncertainty to aspiration is incredibly rewarding.

For us, these stories matter more than numbers because they represent real change. Whether it is a student finding the confidence to dream bigger, a teacher witnessing a transformed classroom, or a young girl feeling empowered to ask questions without fear, these are the moments that reaffirm why we do what we do. They remind us that meaningful social impact begins by changing one life at a time.

Q. Looking back, what has been the most rewarding moment for you personally while leading Project Paathshaala?

A. The most rewarding part has been seeing the positive difference the programme has made in the lives of thousands of children. Knowing that more than 80,000 students have received better learning resources and improved school environments is deeply encouraging. It is equally fulfilling to know that Project Paathshaala is helping create opportunities for children who deserve every chance to build a brighter future.
