Bangalore, July 11, 2026: Aahwahan Foundation inaugurated its Model School Project at Government High School, Thoredoddi, in the presence of Prof. Dr. C.N. Manjunath, MD, DM (Cardiology), FRCP, FACC, Padma Shri Awardee and Hon'ble Member of Parliament, Bangalore Rural Constituency, who formally launched the project. The initiative is aimed at strengthening government school infrastructure and ensuring quality education for underprivileged students.
The inauguration was also attended by senior officials from the Department of Education, including the CEO of Aahwahan Foundation, Mr. Braja Kishore Pradhan, the Block Education Officer, the District Education Officer, along with school authorities, students, community members, and other distinguished guests.
The Model School Project adopts a multi-dimensional approach focused on the holistic development of students. Key interventions include the installation of an RO plant for clean drinking water, the construction of an open auditorium with a capacity to accommodate more than 1,000 students, and tree plantation to enhance the school campus. Together, these initiatives are designed to prioritise health, quality education, and environmental responsibility, benefiting hundreds of underprivileged students in the long term.
With the introduction of the new RO plant facility, students now have easy access to clean drinking water, contributing to improved health and well-being on campus. The newly constructed auditorium offers a vibrant space for academic, cultural, and sports activities, providing children with opportunities to explore their interests beyond classroom learning and supporting their overall development.
The surrounding school area has also been transformed through tree plantation, with the greenery offering shade and fruit to students. The initiative has turned the campus into a thriving green space while helping instil environmental awareness and a sense of responsibility among students, bringing them closer to nature.
At its core, the Model School initiative has been designed not just for the present, but for the future, with the objective of equipping the next generation with more inclusive and sustainable opportunities. The CEO of Aahwahan Foundation reiterated the organisation's commitment to transforming government schools through strengthened infrastructure, improved amenities, and community-driven development initiatives.
The project marks another step in Aahwahan Foundation's ongoing efforts to bridge gaps in public education infrastructure, particularly in rural and underserved areas. By combining essential facilities such as clean drinking water and multi-purpose spaces with environmental interventions, the initiative aims to create a learning environment that supports academic growth as well as physical and emotional well-being.
The presence of Dr. C.N. Manjunath at the inauguration underscored the significance of collaborative efforts between elected representatives, government departments, and civil society organisations in improving the quality of education in government schools. The Thoredoddi Model School is expected to serve as a reference point for similar interventions across other government schools in the region.
