Vedanta’s Girl-Focused Programmes Benefit 10 Lakh Girls in FY26

New Delhi | October 12, 2026: Vedanta Group reported that its girl-focused programmes benefited more than 10 lakh girls in FY2025-26 across over 13 Indian states, as well as its international operational locations in South Africa and Zambia. The initiatives cover education, healthcare, sports, skill development and livelihood opportunities.

Through its Nand Ghars, Vedanta supports more than five lakh children, including girls, with early childhood development services. The Group also supports access to education through STEM laboratories and digital classrooms, alongside vocational training programmes intended to help girls develop skills for employment and livelihoods.

Its health initiatives address issues such as anaemia, menstrual hygiene and cervical cancer awareness. At the community level, the company reports reaching more than two lakh people through programmes that encourage discussions on adolescence, prevention of child marriage and women’s legal rights.

Vedanta also runs sports programmes for girls in football, karate and martial arts. Its initiatives include residential girls’ football academies in Rajasthan and Goa, while martial arts programmes operate in Odisha and Visakhapatnam. According to the company, participants in its football programme have progressed to India Under-16 and Under-17 trials and state-level representation.

The programmes contribute to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including those related to health, education, gender equality, food security and decent work.

Beyond its community programmes, Vedanta has set a target of achieving 35% women’s representation across all levels of its organisation. The announcement comes amid continued gender representation gaps in industrial employment. According to the Annual Survey of Industries cited by the company, women accounted for around 18% of direct employment across industries in India in 2023-24, while their share in sectors such as mining and metals was approximately 6%.

The company said its programmes are designed to support girls at different stages of their lives, from early childhood education and adolescent healthcare to sports participation, vocational training and livelihood development.
