New Delhi: In a significant development for India’s evolving ESG and climate law landscape, Umang Pathak has joined Trilegal as Senior Specialist – Climate Change, ESG Disputes and Regulatory. The move brings together Pathak’s entrepreneurial sustainability expertise with one of India’s leading full-service law firms.
With over two decades of experience across ESG, sustainable finance, law, forensic accounting, fraud examination, social work and human rights, Pathak is widely regarded for blending regulatory precision with innovation-led execution. Her appointment signals Trilegal’s growing focus on climate governance, ESG compliance frameworks, and sustainability-linked dispute resolution.
Entrepreneurial Leadership Meets Top-Tier Legal Practice
Before joining Trilegal, Pathak built an impressive entrepreneurial track record. She is the Founder of ESG Advisory Services (since 2020), a Delhi-based advisory firm guiding businesses and investors on integrating ESG risks into core decision-making, strategy and compliance. The firm works across global jurisdictions through partner networks.
In 2025, she also co-founded Climiq.tech, an AI-powered sustainability platform that developed E.A.R.T.H. (ESG, Analytics, Reporting, Telemetrics Hub)—a modular ESG and legal management engine helping organisations meet evolving regulatory requirements including BRSR compliance.
Earlier, Pathak served as Principal Associate at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (2016–2020), where she advised on complex regulatory and corporate matters. She also acts as Liaison with One Better World Collective and serves as National President of the Legal Awareness Council (WICCI), advancing women’s representation in governance and legal reform. Additionally, she mentors future leaders through Divershefy and engages with academic and NCC institutions.
Strong Academic Foundation in Law & Sustainability
Pathak’s multidisciplinary career is supported by rigorous academic training. She holds a Certification in Sustainability Management from the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (2021), a Universal Certificate in Forensic Accounting and Fraud Examination (2016–17) from IFS Education Department, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Securities and Banking Law (2009–10) from the Indian Law Institute.
This rare combination of sustainability science, forensic finance and regulatory law positions her uniquely at the intersection of ESG risk and compliance.
Trilegal’s Commitment to Responsible Growth
Beyond legal excellence, Trilegal has demonstrated a strong commitment to social responsibility through pro bono initiatives, access-to-justice programmes, diversity and inclusion efforts, and partnerships with civil society organisations supporting education and child welfare. The firm actively promotes sustainable workplace practices and governance ethics, aligning with broader ESG principles.
With Pathak’s entrepreneurial agility and deep regulatory insight, Trilegal is poised to further strengthen its climate and ESG advisory capabilities—at a time when businesses face increasing scrutiny on sustainability disclosures and compliance standards.
