France, July 22, 2025: Royal Canin, a division of Mars, Incorporated, has announced the appointment of Rémi Rocca as the company’s new Global Vice President of Sustainability. Rocca, who previously held senior roles at McDonald’s across sustainability, supply chain, and corporate affairs, will lead Royal Canin’s global sustainability strategy in alignment with the company’s long-term environmental goals.

In his new role, Rémi Rocca will be responsible for executing Royal Canin’s sustainability roadmap, working closely with the broader team and senior leadership. This includes supporting the company’s contribution to Mars’ overarching “Sustainable in a Generation Plan,” which aims for net zero greenhouse gas emissions across the entire value chain by 2050.

Reflecting on his first 150 days in the role, Rocca said, “I feel a deep connection to Royal Canin's and Mars' values: a family-owned business with an ambitious climate commitment, a long-term vision, and a maturity in addressing critical issues. I’m particularly excited by Royal Canin’s work with partners, such as Soil Capital. We have big opportunities and challenges ahead in sustainability and will need to continue to partner with our customers, suppliers and our own people to drive meaningful impact.”

Royal Canin has already undertaken a range of initiatives that integrate sustainability into its business practices. These include a partnership with Soil Capital supporting over 220 farmers in France and Belgium to adopt regenerative agriculture practices and efforts to reduce environmental impact while maintaining high-quality pet nutrition. In 2024, the company sourced 86% of its factory electricity needs globally from renewable sources.

Andy Turner, Global Vice President of Supply Chain and Operations at Royal Canin, welcomed the new appointment, saying, "We are happy to welcome Rémi to our team and believe the breadth of his experience at this critical time will enable Royal Canin to continue our sustainability progress aligned with our three focus areas: pets, people and planet.”

Rocca’s previous work includes leading a global regenerative agriculture platform and initiating a plastic packaging reduction program at McDonald’s, bringing deep expertise to Royal Canin’s evolving sustainability goals.

Royal Canin, founded in 1968 by veterinarian Dr. Jean Cathary, is a global leader in science-based nutrition for cats and dogs. The company emphasizes innovation in nutrition tailored to specific needs of pets and integrates sustainability across its operations to benefit pets, people, and the planet.
