New Delhi, July 13, 2026: Gujarat Green Revolution Company (GGRC) and Tata Chemicals Society for Rural Development (TCSRD) have launched the Pressurized Irrigation Network System (PINS) project in Rajpara village of Devbhumi Dwarka district, Gujarat, to strengthen irrigation infrastructure and improve water-use efficiency for farmers in the water-scarce Okhamandal region.

The project was inaugurated following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organisations. It aims to provide a reliable irrigation network in the command areas of the Bhimgaja Dam and Mithikhari Dam, benefiting more than 300 farmers and bringing nearly 800 hectares of agricultural land under efficient irrigation coverage.

The PINS project will cover six villages—Rangasar, Nageshwar, Goriyali, Rajpara, Mudvel and Samlasar—through a pressurized water distribution system integrated with drip irrigation technology. The initiative is expected to reduce water losses, improve crop productivity, encourage precision irrigation and enhance farmers’ incomes while promoting sustainable use of water resources.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Shree Pabubha Manek, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), Mr. Rino Raj, Vice President, Tata Chemicals, senior officials from GGRC, representatives from the Irrigation, Agriculture and Horticulture Departments, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), local administration, Panchayat members, village leaders and farmers.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ashutosh Vadawale, Senior Manager (Tech & MIS), Gujarat Green Revolution Company (GGRC), said, “Building on this success, GGRC is now promoting Cluster-based Pressurized Irrigation Network System (PINS) projects to maximize the use of surface water resources. The Okhamandal PINS project is a key initiative that will provide reliable irrigation, enabling farmers to grow multiple crops annually, diversify into high-value crops, increase cropping intensity, and boost farm incomes. GGRC sees PINS as a scalable intervention while enhancing productivity and livelihoods. By promoting water-use efficiency and sustainable farming practices, this initiative will contribute to the long-term sustainability of the region’s agricultural community.”

Chintan Joshi, Head – Corporate Advocacy, Communications & CSR, Tata Chemicals, said, “The launch of the PINS project marks an important step towards strengthening water security and agricultural resilience in the Okhamandal region. In partnership with GGRC, we intend to create an efficient irrigation network that will help farmers make optimal use of available water resources while enhancing productivity and livelihoods. By promoting water-use efficiency and sustainable farming practices, this initiative will contribute to the long-term sustainability of the region’s agricultural community.”

According to GGRC, the organisation has brought more than 25.5 lakh hectares under micro-irrigation over the past two decades, benefiting over 16 lakh farmers across Gujarat. The new PINS project builds on these efforts by promoting cluster-based irrigation infrastructure to improve agricultural resilience and sustainable rural development in the region.
