SBI Foundation Announces Asha Scholarship Program 2024 To Support 10K Students

New Delhi, Sep 19, 2024: SBI Foundation, the CSR arm of State Bank of India, has announced the 3rd edition of its flagship Asha Scholarship Program guaranteeing support to 10,000 meritorious students from underprivileged backgrounds nationwide.

Students from Class 6 to postgraduate level can now access scholarship ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,00,000 in a year. The program offers specialized categories for school students, undergraduates, postgraduates, as well as those enrolled in IITs and IIMs in India. Specifically, the ‘Study Abroad’ category designed for SC and ST students will act as a major aid to them in pursuing Masters and above from eminent institutions worldwide.

The application window for the scholarship, which opened on August 16, will remain open till October 1. Details on eligibility and timelines of the scholarship are available on the website. 
 
The Asha Scholarship program is dedicated to identifying and supporting meritorious students from the most underserved backgrounds, with a mission to make quality higher education accessible for young Indians. Since its inception in 2022, the scholarship program has provided timely financial support to the tune of Rs 3.91 crore to 3,198 students.

Speaking about the initiative, Challa Sreenivasulu Setty, Chairman, State Bank of India, said, “Asha Scholarship embodies SBI’s core value of service beyond banking, and being an active contributor to our nation’s steady march towards progress and prosperity for all. We are proud to be expanding this transformative initiative to 10,000 students this year. Asha Scholars will play an important role in achieving our Nation’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.”

Coinciding with Independent India’s 77 years of continued progress, the program aims to nurture and mentor young Indians as leaders and change-makers for the future, the bank said in a press release.
