New Delhi, May 07, 2026: realme has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi to launch the realme DigiShield India Program, aimed at strengthening cyber safety awareness and digital resilience across the country.
The initiative will be jointly implemented by realme India and IIIT-Delhi, focusing on addressing the rising incidence of cybercrime through citizen awareness, structured training, and capacity building for law enforcement agencies.
The programme is designed to benefit over 10,000 citizens and 1,000 police personnel across Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. It includes awareness sessions for the public, specialised workshops and technical training for police, and a DigiShield Certification Program to equip participants with practical digital safety knowledge.
In addition, the initiative will feature a Cyber Safety Ambassador Program to train local champions who can promote safe digital practices within their communities. A digital outreach campaign will also be conducted to expand awareness at scale.
Francis Wong, CMO, realme India, said, “India’s digital growth story is one of the most powerful in the world, but it is also accompanied by a sharp rise in cyber risks that cannot be overlooked. At realme, we believe that safety must evolve in parallel with access as digital adoption deepens across the country. Through the DigiShield India Program, in collaboration with Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi, we are working to bridge this gap by empowering citizens with critical awareness and skills.”
Dr. Arani Bhattacharya, Assistant Professor and Dean of Communication & Alumni Affairs, said, “Cybercrime is evolving faster and in newer ways than awareness. The realme DigiShield India Program represents a critical step towards building digital resilience across India by bridging this critical gap by creating a sustainable ecosystem of sensitized citizens and empowered law enforcement. Through this partnership with Realme, IIIT-Delhi plans to empower around 10,000 citizens of different age groups and 1,000 law enforcement officers across Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh with digital safety awareness and knowledge. This initiative exemplifies how academia, industry, and government can collaborate to address pressing cyber safety challenges facing Indian citizens.”
The programme comes at a time when India’s rapid digital adoption—driven by smartphones, UPI payments, and app-based services—has also led to increased cyber risks, including fraud, identity theft, and malware attacks.
Through DigiShield India, the partners aim to build awareness, strengthen institutional capabilities, and equip citizens with the skills required to navigate the digital ecosystem safely.
