Bangalore, Oct 4, 2024: Crowdfunding platform Milaap has launched a volunteering program, ‘Together For Good’, in celebration of Daan Utsav, the annual ‘Festival of Giving’.
The Daan Utsav started on October 2 and will conclude on October 8.
In collaboration with some of India’s leading NGOs, this program invites compassionate individuals to donate their time and efforts to meaningful causes that directly benefit communities in need. The program offers both in-person and remote volunteering opportunities, making it accessible to people aged 18 and above across India and abroad.
As part of the program, individuals can easily browse and register for various volunteering opportunities offered by partner NGOs through a simple, user-friendly process. Whether it’s supporting children's palliative care, helping cancer patients, promoting education, or contributing to environmental welfare, there’s an opportunity for everyone to make a difference.
For over 14 years, Milaap has been a lifeline for those in need through its crowdfunding platform, providing vital financial assistance to countless individuals. Along this journey, Milaap has built a strong community of compassionate donors and change-makers, all driven by the desire to give back to society. Many of these donors have sought ways to extend their support beyond financial donations, inspiring Milaap to establish Together For Good — a platform that empowers people to invest their time and efforts in meaningful causes, expanding the spirit of giving in new, impactful ways. What's truly special is that many who have received help through Milaap’s donors will now be participating as volunteers themselves, giving back to others in need and fostering a cycle of compassion and support.
“We believe that giving doesn’t always have to be monetary. Donating your time, skills and energy can be equally transformative. Daan Utsav is a powerful reminder of the impact we can have when we come together as a community,” said Anoj Viswanathan, Co-founder, Milaap.
“This Daan Utsav, through our collaboration with these incredible NGOs, we aim to make it easier for individuals to contribute in ways that matter most to them, and create a direct and positive impact in their communities,” he said.
So far, Milaap has joined hands with close to 15 renowned NGOs, each dedicated to a unique cause, offering a diverse range of volunteering opportunities. These include Golden Butterflies Children’s Palliative Care Foundation, Vanavil Trust, Better World Shelter, Sahodaran, Bhumi, MOHAN Foundation, ThinkSharp Foundation, Rotaract Club of Alumni, Arpita Foundation, Cancer Patients Aid Association, Friend For Animal Trust, Team Everest and Samiksha Foundation.
"Volunteering is the backbone of any NGO. I can't imagine running an NGO without the invaluable contributions of volunteers, whether in fundraising, skills, compliance, or beyond. As we scale, the need for dedicated volunteers grows. I believe Milaap's volunteering program will bridge the gap by connecting committed individuals, helping NGOs scale their operations during this Daan Utsav festival,” said Santosh Phad, Founder, Thinksharp Foundation, one of the NGOs collaborating with Milaap.
Kathampari Ezhilarasu, Volunteer Manager, Bhumi, another NGO partner, opined, “There is always a huge need for volunteers across all initiatives. Your few hours of volunteering can lead to a significant change in society. This initiative is bridging NGOs and the community by helping secure many volunteer leads, and we truly appreciate Milaap for collaborating with NGOs to run volunteer sourcing campaigns during Daan Utsav.”
