Mumbai, May 26, 2026: Maxivision Super Speciality Eye Hospitals partnered with Sightsavers India to strengthen access to community eye care services across Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Visakhapatnam.

The initiative, completed in May 2026, focused on underserved populations including truck drivers, daily wage earners, senior citizens, and low-income families who often face barriers to accessing quality eye care services.

According to the organisations, a total of 26,826 individuals were screened for eye-related concerns during the outreach programme. The screenings identified 3,756 individuals with cataracts, who were referred for further treatment and care. Additionally, 3,256 people received spectacles after screenings, while 1,056 individuals were screened for diabetic retinopathy (DR).

The programme aimed to improve awareness around preventive eye care and encourage regular screenings for early detection of vision-related conditions.

A spokesperson from Maxivision Super Speciality Eye Hospitals said, “Good eye health should never be a privilege - our mission is to ensure that communities with limited access to care receive the attention they deserve. By bringing preventive eye care directly to people who may not have access to regular screenings, we’re able to identify cataracts, refractive errors, and other issues early, offering timely intervention to prevent more serious vision problems down the line.”

RN Mohanty, CEO, Sightsavers India added, “As India’s urban population grows, ensuring equitable access to eye care for low-income residents is critical. Through Sightsavers India’s Urban Eye Health Programme, we are driving awareness, promoting regular screening, and enabling early intervention to prevent avoidable vision loss. Our partnership with Maxivision has helped us expand the reach of these efforts. Partnerships such as this are vital not only to expand outreach, but also to build stronger referral networks and more responsive urban eye health systems for the future.”

The collaboration forms part of ongoing efforts by both organisations to improve access to affordable eye care services and strengthen community-based healthcare outreach in urban India.
