Gurugram, June 19, 2026: M3M Foundation has highlighted the achievements of athletes supported under its flagship sports initiative, Lakshya, which currently supports more than 100 athletes from 11 states across India. The programme aims to identify and nurture sporting talent from grassroots communities by providing opportunities and support to athletes from diverse backgrounds.
Among the recent achievements is that of Tenzin Dolma, an ultra-runner from Himachal Pradesh’s Spiti Valley and a Lakshya scholar, who represented India at the IAU Asian-Oceania 24 Hours Championship in Japan. Tenzin set new Indian national records in both the 12-hour and 24-hour categories and contributed to the Indian women’s team winning a bronze medal at the event.
Lakshya was launched by M3M Foundation to support talented athletes who often face financial, geographical, or social barriers in pursuing professional sports. The programme currently covers 36 sporting disciplines, including athletics, boxing, golf, gymnastics, para sports, and kettlebell lifting.
Another notable athlete supported by the programme is Puja Tomar, a mixed martial artist from Uttar Pradesh. She became the first Indian woman to register a victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), marking a significant milestone in Indian combat sports.
According to the Foundation, Lakshya scholars have collectively won 390 medals, including 77 medals at international competitions, reflecting the programme’s focus on strengthening India’s sports ecosystem at the grassroots level.
Speaking about the initiative, Dr. Payal Kanodia, Chairperson and Trustee, M3M Foundation, said: "As an athlete myself, I understand the sacrifices, discipline and perseverance that excellence demands. Through Lakshya, our endeavour is to ensure that deserving sportspersons receive the opportunities and support they need to realise their full potential. Athletes like Tenzin Dolma and Puja Tomar remind us that some of India's greatest champions emerge from the most challenging circumstances."
The programme currently supports athletes from Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Ladakh, and Jammu & Kashmir.
M3M Foundation stated that Lakshya focuses on creating pathways for talented athletes to access training, mentorship, and competitive opportunities, enabling them to represent India at national and international platforms.
Through the initiative, the Foundation aims to strengthen grassroots sports development while supporting athletes in achieving long-term sporting excellence.
