New Delhi, May 29, 2026: The Dharampal Satyapal Group (DS Group) has launched a community-led menstrual hygiene awareness campaign across 18 villages in Barota, Karnal (Haryana) and Purquazi, Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh) on the occasion of Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026.

The initiative aims to improve awareness around menstrual hygiene, enhance access to information, and strengthen preventive healthcare support for women and adolescent girls in rural communities.

As part of the programme, DS Group will train 30 women volunteers as “Jagruk Didis” through a Training of Trainers (ToT) programme. Equipped with Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials such as aprons and flip charts, these trained community facilitators will conduct awareness sessions at the village level. The campaign is expected to directly reach nearly 4,500 women and adolescent girls within one month.

Mr. Prabhakant Jain, GM, Sustainability & CSR, DS Group, said, “Aligned with DS Group’s commitment to inclusive community development, this initiative aims to create awareness at the grassroot level around menstrual hygiene while empowering women leaders to become catalysts of change within their villages. Through the ‘Jagruk Didi’ model, we hope to strengthen preventive healthcare awareness and reach nearly 4,500 women and adolescent girls across 18 villages.”

According to the organisation, the programme is designed to establish a sustainable village-level support system by developing selected Jagruk Didis into community health ambassadors. The model seeks to promote behavioural change and ensure continuity of awareness, counselling, and preventive healthcare support.

The campaign is being implemented in regions where communities continue to face challenges related to healthcare access, reproductive health awareness, school infrastructure, and livelihood opportunities. Menstrual hygiene remains a significant concern due to social stigma, limited awareness, and restricted access to quality healthcare services.

As part of its broader healthcare interventions in the region, DS Group operates mobile medical clinics across 18 villages and supports Primary Health Centre (PHC) services in Barota, Karnal through the deployment of doctors, medical equipment, and specialist gynaecology consultations.

The organisation also conducts regular awareness programmes on menstrual hygiene, anaemia, nutrition, and reproductive health. These efforts have led to collaborations with government schools in the region, where dedicated awareness sessions for adolescent girls are conducted by the Foundation’s healthcare team and gynaecology specialists.

The latest initiative is intended to further strengthen community-level awareness and encourage informed health practices among women and girls in rural Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
