Blue Dart exceeds prescribed CSR budget in FY 2020-21, Major focus on underprivileged children

New Delhi, 8 February 2022: Blue Dart Express Limited, an Indian logistics company providing courier delivery services, has spent over Rs 2 crore on various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities during the financial year 2020-21. The company’s CSR work was focused towards the underprivileged children of the society.

The average net profit of the company for the past three years as per section 135(5) of the Act stood at Rs 97.64 crore and its two percent was calculated at Rs1.96 crore. However, the company has spent Rs2.02 crore towards its CSR activities for the financial year. The prescribed CSR budget of a company is calculated as 2 percent of its average net profit of the past three years.  

Blue Dart’s CSR Expenditure for FY 2020-2021 was done under the umbrella of the three pillars of Connecting People, Improving Lives – GoTeach, GoHelp and GoGreen, says the annual report of the company.

CSR focus areas of Blue Dart

Blue Dart in association with Oasis India, Hope Foundation and Noida Deaf Society (NDS) started an initiative called ‘Blue Edge: Empowering Lives’, aimed at elevating and transforming the lives of young adults from difficult environments, who have not been able to complete their education. The program ensures that the underprivileged section of the society is not deprived of educational skills as a building block to their ability to earn and support their future and families and contribute positively to the community, at large.

·Blue Teach aims to reach out to beneficiaries, touching their lives right from their childhood. The programme is built to elevate the lives of children from different strata of society, making them independent and sustainable in their adulthood.

·Blue Homes provides shelter to orphans and children affected with critical illness in association with SOS Children’s Villages of India and St. Jude India ChildCare Centres.

Blue Dart’s CSR Committee

Sharad Upasani is the Chairperson of the CSR committee at Blue Dart Express Limited. Other key members include Balfour Manuel and Tulsi N. Mirchandaney.
