Belagavi, June 05, 2026: Aequs Infra has announced that its Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Belagavi, Karnataka, has achieved close to 100% renewable energy usage, making it one of India’s advanced green manufacturing ecosystems.

The Aequs SEZ, also known as the Belagavi Aerospace Cluster (BAC), is India’s first notified precision engineering and aerospace cluster. Spread across more than 250 acres, the cluster meets the energy requirements of its manufacturing units through a combination of rooftop solar installations, open-access renewable energy sourced from third-party providers, and green power supplied by the State Electricity Board.

According to the company, the integrated renewable energy framework has enabled the cluster to transition almost entirely to green energy while maintaining operational efficiency for businesses operating within the campus.

Shyam Kalyanasundaram, CEO, Aequs Infra, said: “At Aequs Infra, sustainability is embedded into the way we design and operate industrial ecosystems. The Aequs SEZ at Belagavi demonstrates how large-scale manufacturing can successfully integrate renewable energy while delivering reliability, operational efficiency, and cost competitiveness to customers. As one of the few industrial clusters in the country to have achieved renewable energy adoption at this scale, we believe this model can serve as a blueprint for future-ready industrial infrastructure in India.”

The licensed power distribution network within the cluster supports energy delivery to more than 35 customer units, including multinational and Indian companies serving the global aerospace industry. The company stated that the integrated infrastructure helps reduce operational costs by over 30% for businesses operating within the campus.

Aequs Infra also highlighted the sustainability benefits of the cluster’s ecosystem model, which brings together the aerospace manufacturing value chain—from raw materials to finished products—within a single location. This approach has reduced the movement of aerospace components from an estimated 5,000 kilometres to less than 500 metres, lowering transportation-related emissions and improving operational efficiency.

Marking the achievement on World Environment Day, the company said the milestone reflects its focus on translating sustainability commitments into measurable outcomes.

Aequs Infra follows a similar approach at its other industrial clusters in Hubballi and Koppal, where it operates India’s first Durables Goods Cluster and Toy Cluster, respectively.
