New Delhi, February 03, 2026: The WE Foundation (TWF) has partnered with Grant Thornton to conduct a Pan-India Cleanliness Drive across 13 cities to mark National Cleanliness Day. The initiative mobilised close to 400 corporate volunteers to support urban waste management and community sensitisation efforts in key public spaces.

Designed as an employee volunteering engagement, the drive brought together approximately 30 Grant Thornton employees at each location to carry out on-ground cleanup activities and awareness outreach. The programme was implemented across multiple urban areas, including Sector 57 in Gurgaon, Jhilmil Colony in Delhi, and Shanthi Colony in Bengaluru, among other locations nationwide.

The initiative focused on translating corporate social responsibility from financial support into direct community action. Volunteers undertook physical waste removal in public areas and engaged with local residents to promote responsible waste disposal and long-term behavioural change related to urban sanitation.

Nabanita Banerjee, Director, The WE Foundation, said, “Our objective is to create a sense of ownership within the community and among corporate citizens. Just as our flagship ‘Smart Schools’ programme ensures no child is left behind digitally, this initiative ensures that our environment is not left behind in our pursuit of progress. By partnering with Grant Thornton, we are integrating professional expertise with grassroots environmental action.”

Satya Jha, Partner, CBO, CSO and CSR Lead – National Management, Grant Thornton, added, “At Grant Thornton, we believe that sustainable growth is only possible when we take active responsibility for the ecosystems we inhabit. This Pan-India drive is a testament to our commitment to ‘Vibrant India.’ By engaging our people directly on the ground this National Cleanliness Day, we are moving beyond compliance to create a tangible, positive impact in the communities where we operate.”

The one-day programme was structured around two core components: intensive cleaning of public spaces, including sensitive ecological zones such as beaches, and community engagement to encourage improved sanitation practices. By aligning the drive with National Cleanliness Day, the partners aimed to highlight the role of corporate volunteering in supporting India’s broader sanitation and sustainability goals.

The initiative builds on The WE Foundation’s experience in multi-stakeholder collaboration, including partnerships with state governments, corporates, and international organisations. Through its community-focused programmes, the Foundation has worked across education, sustainability, and resilience-building initiatives in more than 100 communities and schools across India.
