Bengaluru, August 06, 2026: Flipkart Foundation, in partnership with The Akshaya Patra Foundation, has provided nutritious morning snacks to more than one lakh government school children across Bengaluru and Hubli under Akshaya Patra’s Morning Nutrition Programme. The initiative complemented the Government of India’s PM POSHAN programme by helping address classroom hunger and improve students’ readiness to learn.
During the programme, over 21 lakh morning snack servings were distributed through Akshaya Patra’s established kitchen and delivery network, ensuring 100% on-time delivery across participating schools. The initiative is also estimated to have positively impacted more than four lakh people, including beneficiaries’ families and surrounding communities.
According to the organisations, the programme aimed to improve children’s nutrition, energy levels and classroom participation. For many students, including Shreya Jeeragi, a Class 6 student from Hubli whose family depends on daily wage work, the morning snack was often the first meal of the day. Teachers from participating schools observed improved attentiveness and classroom engagement among students receiving the meals.
Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group and Board Member, Flipkart Foundation, said, "Every child deserves the opportunity to begin the school day ready to learn. Good nutrition is fundamental to making that possible. Through our partnership with The Akshaya Patra Foundation, we have been able to reach over one lakh government school children in Karnataka with nutritious morning snacks that help address classroom hunger. This collaboration reflects our belief that lasting social impact comes from working with organisations that bring deep community expertise and a shared commitment to improving children’s lives.”
Shridhar Venkat, CEO, The Akshaya Patra Foundation, said, "When a child comes to school hungry, learning becomes much harder. Through our partnership with Flipkart Foundation, we have been able to reach more children with nutritious morning meals that help them begin the school day with the energy and focus they need to learn. Partnerships like these enable us to extend our reach and move closer to our shared goal that no child’s education should be compromised because of hunger.”
The initiative forms part of Flipkart Foundation’s broader community development efforts, which focus on skill development, entrepreneurship, environmental responsibility and community welfare. Since 2022, the Foundation has reported positively impacting more than 4.14 million underserved and marginalised individuals across India.
