New Delhi, March 08, 2026: Vedanta Power marked International Women’s Day by highlighting progress in gender diversity across its workforce, with women now accounting for nearly 29% of its total workforce in FY2026, among the highest representation levels in India’s thermal power sector.
The company reported strong representation across its operating units. At Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL) in Punjab, women constitute around 52% of the workforce, reflecting one of the highest diversity levels in the country’s power generation industry. Vedanta Power’s newer assets have also shown increasing gender diversity, with Meenakshi Energy reporting 26% women representation and Vedanta Limited Chhattisgarh Thermal Power Plant (VLCTPP) recording 19.5% women representation in FY2026.
As part of its broader diversity strategy, Vedanta Power has set a target of achieving 35% women representation across all levels of the organisation. The company also launched the ‘Power, Held By Her’ campaign to recognise the contributions of women employees and strengthen gender inclusivity across its operations.
Women professionals across Vedanta Power’s facilities are actively involved in core engineering and plant operations. These include roles in control and instrumentation systems, plant control rooms, ash and coal handling plants, water management systems, and operations and maintenance functions—areas that have traditionally seen limited female participation.
At the leadership level, 27% of Vedanta Power’s Executive Leadership Team are women, leading key functions such as finance, human resources, safety, ESG and sustainability.
To support women professionals, the company has introduced several initiatives aimed at leadership development and career progression. These include the GATI programme for hiring women leaders, leadership development programmes, and early-career initiatives such as Campus to Corporate and Train the Trainer.
Vedanta Power has also implemented workplace measures to support safety, wellbeing and career continuity for women employees across its plant locations. These include crèche facilities for working mothers, dedicated women’s hostels, self-defence workshops, flexible leave policies, and employee support initiatives such as Ladies Club networks, book circles and access to the mental wellness platform Your Dost.
These efforts have contributed to Vedanta Power being recognised as a Great Place to Work in the Energy, Oil & Gas sector and among Mid-Sized Organisations, along with recognition for Great Managers for two consecutive years.
Beyond its workforce initiatives, Vedanta Power has also focused on community-based programmes supporting women’s empowerment. Over the past five years, the company’s initiatives have reached more than 97,500 women and children across education, healthcare and livelihood programmes.
Projects such as Project TARA promote entrepreneurship, skill development and self-help groups among rural women, while Project Navi Disha supports women farmers through training in sustainable agriculture practices to strengthen income opportunities.
As part of the International Women’s Day celebrations, the #PowerHeldByHer campaign includes appreciation letters for women employees and business partners, along with customised artwork created by specially-abled women from the CRC Centre in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. The celebrations also feature a fireside discussion with retired IAS officer and former Chief Secretary of Rajasthan Usha Sharma, and an initiative titled “A Day in She-Suite,” where women employees experience leadership roles and strategic decision-making.
Vedanta Power stated that expanding opportunities for women across engineering, operations and leadership remains central to building a diverse and future-ready energy sector.
