New Delhi, March 19, 2026: The University of Liverpool and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic collaboration and advance joint research across key technology domains.
The agreement was signed by Professor Tariq Ali, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement and Partnerships at the University of Liverpool, and Professor Anil Verma, Dean of International Relations at IIT Delhi. The MoU establishes a framework for long-term cooperation in high-impact areas such as quantum technologies, biomedical devices and diagnostics, and artificial intelligence (AI).
The collaboration follows a recent faculty delegation visit by the University of Liverpool to IIT Delhi. During the visit, a focused session brought together faculty members from IIT Delhi’s Department of Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology, the Kusuma School of Biological Sciences, and the Centre for Biomedical Engineering, setting the foundation for future joint initiatives.
Professor Tariq Ali, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement and Partnerships at the University of Liverpool, said, "Our partnership with IIT Delhi represents an exciting opportunity to bring together the strengths of two research-intensive institutions committed to advancing knowledge and innovation. Through this partnership, both institutions will jointly explore opportunities to leverage their complementary expertise, promote faculty collaboration, and support the development of innovative research projects. The MoU is expected to further strengthen India–UK academic ties and create a sustained platform for collaborative research and knowledge exchange.
