New Delhi, August 17, 2026: Taj Mahal, New Delhi has launched ‘Sajhi Unnati’ (साझी उन्नति), an initiative focused on women’s economic participation, skill development and employment opportunities in Jattari village near Jewar. The programme has been developed in partnership with the Wheeling Happiness Foundation, founded by Padma Shri awardee and Paralympian Ms. Deepa Malik, under IHCL’s Paathya framework.
As part of the initiative, selected women from Jattari were presented with offer letters during the hotel’s Independence Day celebrations. The women will undergo structured hospitality training at Taj Mahal, New Delhi before transitioning to employment opportunities. Jattari has an estimated population of 27,500 across 13 wards, with women accounting for approximately 47% of the community.
Dr. Anmol Ahluwalia, Area Director – Operations and General Manager, Taj Mahal, New Delhi, said, “This Independence Day, we celebrate not only the freedom our nation earned, but also the freedom that comes from opportunity. At Taj Mahal, New Delhi, we believe meaningful progress begins when people are empowered to learn, build careers and shape their own futures. Through Sajhi Unnati, and as part of our commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, we are creating pathways that enable women to participate confidently in the workforce and realise their potential. We are grateful to Ms. Deepa Malik and the Wheeling Happiness Foundation for partnering with us on this journey.”

The initiative aims to strengthen the local talent pipeline for the hospitality sector as tourism, commerce and employment opportunities expand around the Noida International Airport growth corridor. It also includes plans to support village hygiene and sustainable waste management through community partnerships.
Taj Mahal, New Delhi will also launch ‘Wheels of Hope’, an adaptive entrepreneurship incubator under IHCL’s Paathya framework. The programme will support wheelchair-bound specially-abled individuals through skilling, mentoring, market access and sustained business support, with the aim of enabling them to pursue independent businesses.
Through Sajhi Unnati and Wheels of Hope, the initiative combines employment-oriented training with entrepreneurship support, focusing on greater economic participation and access to livelihood opportunities for women and persons with disabilities.
