Publicis Advances ‘Working With Cancer’ Initiative to Support 40 Million Workers Globally

Mumbai, February 05, 2026: Publicis Groupe has announced a major expansion of its global Working With Cancer (WWC) initiative, aimed at fostering supportive workplace cultures for employees undergoing cancer treatment. The programme, launched three years ago at the World Economic Forum in Davos, now covers more than 40 million workers across over 5,000 companies worldwide, according to the company

The announcement follows new research reviewed by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the Mayo Clinic, which highlights a strong link between continued employment after a cancer diagnosis and improved quality of life outcomes. The review, led by Dr. Victoria Blinder of Memorial Sloan Kettering and Dr. Gina Mazza of Mayo Clinic, indicates that cancer survivors who remain employed or return to work report better physical functioning, lower rates of depression and anxiety, and higher overall wellbeing compared to those who are unemployed

Drawing on these findings, Working With Cancer has introduced an AI-powered workplace coach designed to help organisations translate research insights into practical, individualised support for employees affected by cancer. Available to companies that sign the WWC pledge, the tool assists employers in aligning health benefits, workplace flexibility, and internal policies with the specific needs of employees during treatment and recovery. The AI coach is built with strict privacy safeguards and does not provide medical diagnoses, focusing instead on workplace guidance and policy navigation.

The AI system draws from curated resources developed with WWC’s expert partners and enables companies to securely upload their own internal policies, ensuring employees receive context-specific and accurate guidance. It is designed to support not only employees with cancer, but also managers, HR teams, and colleagues, helping workplaces respond with greater empathy and consistency.

Alongside the technology launch, Working With Cancer has also initiated a global awareness campaign calling on more employers to adopt supportive workplace practices. The campaign, developed by Publicis Conseil, is supported by up to USD 100 million in pro bono media contributions from global media and technology partners. It features cancer survivors from a range of professions sharing how continued work contributed to their sense of dignity, stability, and recovery during treatment

With mounting evidence that workplace conditions can influence recovery outcomes, Publicis Groupe said the initiative reflects a growing recognition that employers play a meaningful role in the broader cancer care ecosystem. The company noted that the next phase of Working With Cancer will focus on scaling adoption of the pledge and encouraging long-term changes in organisational policies and culture worldwide.
