New Delhi, March 16, 2026: Mobis India Foundation has partnered with IIT Madras-incubated assistive technology company NeoMotion to distribute 600 mobility devices to wheelchair users across India, aiming to enhance independent mobility and accessibility for persons with disabilities.

The partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organisations for a project titled “Accessibility & Freedom – Empowering Wheelchair Users with Mobility Assistive Devices.” The initiative, valued at INR 6.3 crore, focuses on improving mobility for individuals with disabilities by providing advanced assistive technology designed for both indoor and outdoor use.

Mobis India Foundation, the CSR arm of Hyundai Mobis in India, has been working in areas such as healthcare, education, environment and social inclusion. Through this initiative, the foundation aims to strengthen its commitment to accessibility and inclusive growth.

Under the programme, beneficiaries will receive NeoFly wheelchairs and NeoBolt motor-powered attachments, both developed and patented at IIT Madras. The NeoFly wheelchair is designed to improve posture, accessibility and ease of movement, offering 18 customization options and enabling users to travel three to five times longer distances with each push while navigating narrow spaces.

The NeoBolt attachment, a motor-powered clip-on device, converts a manual wheelchair into a powered mobility device within seconds. It can reach a top speed of 25 km/h and offers a range of up to 50 kilometres per charge, enabling wheelchair users to travel independently and safely outdoors.

As part of the project, 600 beneficiaries across eight states and union territories will receive the assistive devices. Distribution will take place in Tamil Nadu (120 beneficiaries), New Delhi (60), Haryana (60), Telangana (90), Andhra Pradesh (90), Madhya Pradesh (60), Maharashtra (60) and West Bengal (60).

The first phase of the programme has already been completed in Tamil Nadu, where 50 beneficiaries received their customised wheelchairs at an event held at the Chengalpattu District Collectorate office. The event was attended by Chengalpattu District Collector Tmt. S. Malathi Helen, I.A.S. Beneficiaries were trained on safe usage of the devices after undergoing assessments and measurements during earlier screening camps.
