New Delhi, May 07, 2026: Max Healthcare Foundation has extended financial support to Atharv Chaturvedi, a 19-year-old MBBS aspirant from Madhya Pradesh, under its Max Medical Scholarship Programme after he secured admission following a ruling by the Supreme Court of India.
Atharv had qualified the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) twice and met the eligibility criteria under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category. However, he was initially denied admission due to the non-implementation of the 10% EWS quota in private medical colleges in his state. He subsequently approached the Supreme Court and represented himself.
In February 2026, the court ruled in his favour, directing authorities to facilitate his admission, noting that he had been denied an opportunity despite merit. While the verdict enabled his entry into an MBBS programme in Jabalpur, financial constraints remained a challenge.
Max Healthcare Foundation, after learning about his case, provided support through its scholarship programme to help him continue his medical education.
Mrs. Taruna Soi, Chairperson, Max Healthcare Foundation, said, “At Max Healthcare Foundation, we firmly believe that financial constraints should never hinder deserving students from pursuing a career in medicine. Atharv’s perseverance and clarity of purpose are truly inspiring. Through the Max Medical Scholarship Programme, we are proud to support his journey, providing not just financial assistance, but also the guidance needed to help him grow into a compassionate and skilled medical professional.”
The Max Medical Scholarship Programme is designed to support meritorious students from economically weaker sections pursuing medical education. Each year, it provides financial assistance to 100 NEET-qualified students in government medical colleges, covering tuition fees, along with support such as a laptop, textbooks, medical tools, and a monthly allowance. The programme also includes mentorship and skill development sessions.
Expressing his gratitude, Atharv Chaturvedi said, “Becoming a doctor has always been my dream, but the journey has been filled with challenges and uncertainty. After finally securing admission, financial constraints were a major concern for my family and me. I am deeply grateful to Max Healthcare Foundation for stepping in at the right time and supporting me. This encouragement has given me not just financial relief, but also confidence and motivation to focus on my studies and pursue my dreams. I hope to honour this support by working hard and, one day, giving back to society as a responsible and compassionate doctor.”
The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to improve access to medical education for deserving students facing financial barriers.
