Bengaluru, Dec 3, 2024: Boson Whitewater, a water utility company that converts STP-treated water into high-quality potable water, has partnered with Citadines OMR Chennai to introduce an onsite wastewater treatment and recycling system. This makes Citadines OMR the first hotel in Chennai to implement such a system.
Boson Whitewater system is fully operational at Citadines and it will save 60 kiloliters (KL) of water per day, equivalent to 210 million litres annually.
Boson Whitewater converts water from sewage treatment plants into potable high quality water that can be used for centralised air conditioning, cooling towers, etc. The system offers an 11-step filtering system that removes smell, colour, suspended solids, and opaqueness from STP water. At the end of all the stages, the water does not have any contaminants.
Commenting on the partnership, Vikas Brahmavar, CEO and Co-Founder, Boson Whitewater, said, “We are thrilled to launch our maiden project in Chennai at Citadines OMR, making it the first hotel in the city to implement an in-house wastewater treatment system. This initiative by Citadines demonstrates how the hospitality sector can take meaningful steps toward creating a circular water economy. By recycling and reusing water onsite, they are not only reducing their dependence on freshwater but also setting an example for the need to implement sustainable practices in the industry. If more hospitality chains opt for initiatives like this, it will make a big difference to water infrastructure in our cities.”
Gowthaman Desingh, Co-Founder and Technology Director, Boson Whitewater, said, “Technology has been a significant enabler for adopting sustainable water practices, and this partnership serves as a prime example. Citadines is among the brands dedicated to exploring innovative, climate-friendly initiatives that not only make a meaningful impact on the city but also set a benchmark for others to follow. Their commitment to sustainability is truly commendable, and we look forward to a successful partnership.”
