Aurangabad, June 19, 2023. AB InBev India, a leading beer and beverage company, set up its first Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Aurangabad’s State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) Campus. The STP will benefit over 300 families from the region, ensuring safe disposal of sewage and the provision of water for communities. The plant was inaugurated by Mr. Chiranjeev Prasad, IPS, Additional Director General of Police, in the presence of Mr. Nimit Goel, IPS, SPMESM office bearers, and Mr. Milind Kelkar (CMD of Grind Master Machines Pvt Ltd), among others.
The STP will process 1.3 Lakh litres of sewage and make 470 lakh litres of water available for use every year. The recycled water will be used for agricultural activities and mass plantations. AB InBev India has partnered with Savitribai Phule Mahila Ektama Samaj Mandal (SPMESM) to implement these interventions in Aurangabad. The beverage major aims to recharge 200,000 KL of water through its water conservation initiatives in Aurangabad.
Speaking on the occassion, Mr. Chiranjeev Prasad, IPS, Additional Director General of Police, said, “We commend AB InBev India for its proactive establishment of this Sewage Treatment Plant in the water-stressed region of Aurangabad, and I am pleased to inaugurate this significant initiative. Such endeavours effectively complement the government's drive to provide communities with clean surroundings and water access and security. The STP at the SRPF Campus incorporates advanced technology and processes to ensure the highest water treatment and reuse standards. The plant utilises a combination of biological treatment and filtration systems to remove impurities and contaminants, transforming the wastewater into a clean and reusable resource.

AB InBev India has been working over the years in Aurangabad to improve overall water access for the community. The company launched two projects to increase water availability and security for agricultural purposes, promoting the cultivation of water-intensive crops. With the launch of groundwater management initiatives, the company was able to restore groundwater levels above the planned limits. AB InBev India also built six new structures, Cement Nallah Bunds (CNBs), two of which were on the State Reserve Police Forces (SRPF) campus and repaired two existing CNBs.
AB InBev’s sustainability initiatives focus on four pillars: Water Stewardship, Climate Action, Circular Packaging and Smart Agriculture. The company continues to spearhead water conservation initiatives within its operations by deploying effective watershed management programmes across its facilities. Its breweries have reduced water consumption by 20-30% over the last few years.
