New Delhi, May 16, 2025: Delhi-based NGO Wishes & Blessings has announced that it has successfully distributed over 1 crore meals to underserved communities across India. To mark the milestone, the NGO will organize community meal distribution events on May 22 in Delhi/NCR, West Bengal, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand.
The organization, which focuses on inclusive social development, delivers food through structured initiatives such as daily feeding programs, ration distributions, and emergency relief efforts. In addition to hunger relief, it also works in areas such as education, elder care, gender empowerment, healthcare, and skill development.
“Serving 1 crore meals is not just a number—it represents hope, dignity, and the right to a full stomach,” said Dr. Geetanjali Chopra, Founder and President of Wishes & Blessings. “This milestone is a testament to the collective power of empathy, partnership, and unwavering resolve. But our work is far from over. As long as there’s hunger, our mission continues.”
The milestone comes ahead of World Hunger Day on May 29. India ranks 111th out of 125 countries in the Global Hunger Index 2023, with 16.6% of the population undernourished and 35.5% of children under five suffering from stunting.
Wishes & Blessings significantly expanded its operations during the COVID-19 pandemic to meet growing food insecurity, providing hot meals and ration kits to affected communities. The organization continues to run feeding programs that are adaptable to local needs, aiming to reach vulnerable populations such as children, the elderly, the homeless, and people with disabilities.
