Mumbai, August 14, 2026: Senior leaders of Alkem Laboratories Ltd. participated in a wheelchair-assembling initiative for underprivileged senior citizens, organised by the company’s CSR arm, Alkem Foundation. The assembled wheelchairs will be donated through HelpAge India.

The initiative was conducted under SMILE (Support to Make Individual Lives Easier), Alkem’s employee volunteering programme, as part of its annual employee-led community engagement efforts. Alkem has designated August as its “We Care Month”, during which employees across the organisation participate in activities focused on community welfare.

The wheelchair-assembling activity forms part of a wider programme of employee volunteering initiatives undertaken during the month. August is significant for Alkem as it marks the company’s Foundation Day, as well as the birthdays of Founder and Chairman Emeritus Late Shri Samprada Singh and Co-Founder and Executive Chairman Shri B.N. Singh.

Mrs. Madhurima Singh, Executive Director and Chairperson of the CSR Committee, Alkem, said, “Giving back to the community has always been part of Alkem’s DNA. Our founders envisioned an organisation that would make a difference to people’s lives, and that spirit continues to shape our culture even today. We believe meaningful change comes when people give not just their resources, but also their time and effort for the well-being of the communities we serve.”

Another employee-led activity during the “We Care Month” was a blood donation drive, through which Alkem employees donated 803 units of blood in a single day to the Indian Red Cross Society.

Other activities planned by Alkem Foundation during the month include food distribution and cleanliness drives, visits to old-age homes and orphanages, and audiobook recording for visually impaired people.

The employee volunteering programme has expanded since the launch of SMILE in 2022. Between 2022 and 2026, the programme recorded 31,151+ employee participations, more than 100 volunteering activities and 1,28,312+ volunteering hours, benefiting over 5,700 community members across India.
