Jaipur, May 23, 2025: St Jude India ChildCare Centres (St Judes) has expanded its Kavita Care Centre in Jaipur, significantly increasing its capacity to provide free, safe, and nurturing accommodation for children undergoing cancer treatment and their families. This milestone strengthens St Judes’ mission to offer holistic care, giving young cancer warriors a ‘home away from home’ during their fight.
The expanded Kavita Cancer Care Centre now boasts 77 family units, up from 40, with the addition of 37 new units: 24 specialized units for children undergoing Bone Marrow Transplants (BMT) and 13 dedicated to paediatric oncology patients. Nestled in Jaipur’s serene landscapes, the centre serves families from districts like Bharatpur, Pali, Sikar, and Chomu, who seek treatment at SMS Hospital, JK Lon Hospital, Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital, and Mahatma Gandhi Hospital.
Since its founding in 2014, the Jaipur Centre has been a beacon of hope, established in memory of Kavita Kanodia, who lost her battle with cancer at 22. Donated by her parents, Kailash and Sujata Kanodia, the facility features a garden, playground, and fruit-bearing trees, creating a joyful healing space. The Kanodia family remains deeply involved, supplying organic vegetables and essential items, as well as installing a cooling system for summer.
“The journey with St Judes began 12 years ago when we saw their life-changing work in Mumbai,” said Ashish Kanodia, Director, Shri Balaji Industrial Products Limited. “We were immediately impressed and to further our social cause, took a decision to open a centre with them in Jaipur with 40 beds and named it Kavita Cancer Care Centre. We are proud to say that the centre has been functional ever since and runs very effectively. Due to the growing need, we have now taken a decision to expand the centre by adding another 37 beds. We pray this expanded facility continues to transform lives.”
Anil Nair, CEO of St Judes, added, “At St Judes, we don’t just provide a bed — we create a nurturing environment where children can fight cancer with dignity and strength. This expansion allows us to support more families in Rajasthan, giving every child a better shot at a healthy, happy future.”
Founded in 2006, St Judes operates 46 centres across 11 Indian cities, supporting over 500 children with free accommodation, nutrition, and holistic care. The Jaipur expansion underscores its commitment to partnering with hospitals like Tata Memorial Hospital and AIIMS to improve survival rates.
