Gandhinagar, April 21, 2023. Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited (KPTL) recently inaugurated ‘Simulation-Based Welding Lab’ at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Mansa in Gandhinagar district of Gujarat. The lab has been developed by Kalpataru Foundation under its CSR project Kalpa Vidhya Kalpa Kaushal (KVKK). It is equipped with eXtended Reality (XR) based welding simulator which will support the institute to move from conventional teaching to Augmented Reality based training. These welding simulators will provide the student an immersive 3D view with full HD resolution of a real welding gun, sparks and the ambience based on the exact distance and angles.
Commenting on the relevance of the lab, Mr. Kamal Kishore Jain –Director, KPTL said, “Welding is an important trade in engineering as well as in automobiles industry. We are excited to set up this state-of-the-art simulation-based welding lab that will enhance the skill sets of young students as well as the teaching pedagogy of the ITI teachers. These simulators will help students to learn the technical nuances of welding, like positioning, distance, etc. that will be evaluated on real-time basis. The students can practice as much as possible on the basis of the evaluations. The students can master the art of welding and then move to the actual work set-up. This will ensure less usage of raw-materials, lesser fumes during welding process and skilled workforce in the future.”
The Simulation-based Welding Lab was formally inaugurated by Shri Kamal Kishore Jain, Director – Integrity & Chief Ethics Officer, KPTL on April 12th, 2023, in the presence of Shri Dilip V Patel- Principal, ITI Mansa; senior dignitaries from KPTL; teachers of the ITI and students.
The company intends to extend this initiative further. It has plans to set up similar simulation- based welding lab at ITI Patan in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. This project is a part of the company’s CSR Skill Development Initiative.
