Mumbai, January 16, 2026: HDFC Bank, through its corporate social responsibility programme Parivartan, will field nearly 1,500 employees at the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2026 on January 18, marking one of the largest corporate contingents in the event. The initiative is aimed at supporting cancer awareness and early detection in partnership with the Indian Cancer Society (ICS).

The participation aligns with Parivartan’s Healthcare and Hygiene pillar, which focuses on improving access to preventive healthcare, strengthening health infrastructure, and encouraging health-seeking behaviour. Through this collaboration, HDFC Bank aims to amplify awareness around cancers that are highly treatable when detected early.

As part of the marathon, the Indian Cancer Society will also field a group of over 100 runners, including young cancer survivors and ICS employees, reinforcing the message of resilience and early action.

Mr. Kaizad Bharucha, Deputy Managing Director, HDFC Bank, said, “We are running for a cause that touches every family in some way. As a bank, our responsibility extends beyond financial services to the well-being of the communities we serve. We are proud to stand with the Indian Cancer Society to raise awareness, encourage early detection, and remind everyone that small steps can create life-changing impact.”

Mrs. Usha Thorat, Hon. Secretary and Managing Trustee, Indian Cancer Society, and former Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, highlighted the importance of awareness, saying, “We are grateful to HDFC Bank for its unwavering support and for bringing together such a large contingent of employees to champion cancer awareness. Cancer affects countless families in India, and awareness is the first step towards improving outcomes. Early detection through simple screening significantly improves survival rates, yet fear, stigma, and lack of information continue to delay diagnosis.”

To mark the partnership, the Indian Cancer Society has conducted cancer awareness sessions for HDFC Bank employees and organised screening camps at select locations. Mr. Bharucha further added that the marathon reflects strong employee engagement, noting that nearly 1,500 colleagues have volunteered to run for the cause.

Beyond the marathon, HDFC Bank Parivartan continues to support healthcare initiatives across India, including partnerships with institutions such as the Gujarat Cancer Society and Tata Memorial Hospital, reinforcing its long-term commitment to preventive healthcare and community well-being.
