Gujarat Titans And NEPRA Join Forces To Divert 75,557 Kg Of Waste From Landfills During IPL

Ahmedabad, May 9, 2024: In a bid to champion sustainability during the TATA IPL 2024 season, Gujarat Titans have joined forces with NEPRA for waste management initiatives at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium and successfully collected and managed a total of 75,557 kg waste during the first five home games of the TATA IPL 2024 season.

The partnership between Gujarat Titans and Nepra Resource Management Pvt Ltd for waste management has yielded impressive results, diverting a significant amount of waste from landfills.

The expanded sustainability initiatives during the first five home games of the TATA IPL 2024 season have seen a substantial 75,557 kgs of waste being diverted from landfills through segregation and recycling efforts.

During the five home matches, Gujarat Titans and NEPRA successfully collected and managed a total of 75,557 kg which included 6,400 kg of wet waste and 69,157 kg of dry waste. The wet waste was sent to Bharuch Enviro Infrastructure Ltd for composting and transforming it into valuable organic fertilizer. The dry waste was efficiently segregated at Nepra’s material recovery facility into recyclable waste such as mixed plastic, mixed paper, PET, and non-recyclable waste. This resulted in 24% of the dry waste being diverted from landfills.

Colonel Arvinder Singh, Chief Operating Officer, Gujarat Titans said, "We are proud of our sustainability initiatives that have led to significant progress in minimizing our negative environmental impact during the TATA IPL 2024. Our partnership with NEPRA along with the enthusiastic participation of our fans has been instrumental in achieving these results. The efforts this year has built upon our efforts in diverting 98% of waste from landfills during IPL 2023. Gujarat Titans remain committed to exploring innovative solutions for sports to contribute to a greener earth."

Stadium awareness campaigns engaged fans through pre-game announcements, visual displays, interactive activities, and promotional materials. These served to inform and educate fans about the importance of sustainable practices like waste segregation and responsible waste disposal practices. to save the environment and ensure a greener future.

Gujarat Titans, nicknamed the Titans, is a professional franchise cricket team based in Ahmedabad. The Gujarat Titans were one of two new teams added to the IPL for the 2022 season. Gujarat Titans made history during the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 by clinching the title in their first season and were runners-up during the 2023 season.
