Surat, Jan 7, 2025: Performance surfactants and specialty care ingredients manufacturer Galaxy Surfactants Ltd has launched a three-year farmer empowerment project as part of its CSR initiative. The “Samajeek Utthaan” (Social Upliftment, Social Progress) project aims at enhancing agricultural sustainability and lead to the economic empowerment of farmers. This initiative will benefit over 6,000 villagers across five villages in the Jhagadia region of Gujarat.
The projects were formally commenced in the presence of Vinod Singh (People Energy Process and CSR Head); Colonel Amarjeet Das (CSR-Chief); Mangesh Vishvakarma (Manager CGP); and Chhatrasinh Bhatthi (Senior Manager, PE Process) from Galaxy Surfactants Ltd, alongside village representatives.
The project aims to increase farmer incomes through sustainable agricultural practices and market linkages, improve soil health using advanced technologies like hydrogels and composting, enhance crop water management and irrigation efficiency, and reduce the usage of harmful fertilizers and insecticides in agriculture by promoting eco-friendly practices.
Galaxy Surfactants has partnered with the Farm Bridge Social Support Foundation NGO to implement this project. The initiative involves organizing villages into clusters to optimize marketing and sourcing strategies. Advanced technologies and training sessions on sustainable farming practices (using hydrogel), market trends, and financial inclusion will be provided to farmers for their transformation.
