Gujarat, June 18, 2026: Evoke Dholavira, a unit of Eyak Ventures Pvt. Ltd., Ahmedabad, has been awarded the IGBC Green Resort Silver Certification by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), for its sustainability initiatives in hospitality operations.

Located near Dholavira: A Harappan City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Gujarat’s Kutch district, the resort has been recognized for integrating sustainable design, resource-efficient operations, ecological conservation, and community-focused practices. According to IGBC, Evoke Dholavira is the first resort in the Kutch region to receive this certification.

The resort’s sustainability measures include the use of drought-tolerant and native plant species across more than 81% of its landscaped area, reducing irrigation water demand while supporting biodiversity and improving local environmental conditions. Native plantations and greenscaping efforts have also been incorporated to support the region’s desert ecosystem.

Water conservation forms a key component of the resort’s environmental strategy. The property has implemented systems to treat and reuse wastewater for flushing and landscaping, achieving nearly 90% wastewater reuse. The resort also supports potable water requirements for the nearby Dholavira village.

Mr. C. Shekar Reddy, National Chairman, CII Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), said: "The hospitality sector has a critical role to play in advancing sustainable development and responsible tourism. Evoke Dholavira has demonstrated leadership by adopting comprehensive sustainability measures that address water conservation, biodiversity enhancement, sustainable procurement, and environmental stewardship. We congratulate the Evoke team on achieving IGBC Green Resort Certification and setting an inspiring example for the hospitality industry."

The resort has also adopted environmentally friendly housekeeping chemicals, integrated pest management practices, and sustainable procurement policies. Notably, it sources all fruits and vegetables from local vendors, supporting regional livelihoods while reducing transportation-related emissions.

The IGBC Green Resorts Rating System assesses projects across parameters such as guest experience, infrastructure, landscape management, facility operations, societal contribution, and innovation. The Silver Rating reflects the resort’s efforts to balance tourism with environmental and social responsibility.

Mr. Debabrota Roy, GM, Evoke Dholavira, said: "Receiving the IGBC Green Resort Silver Certification is a significant milestone for us and reaffirms our commitment to sustainable hospitality. Our efforts are focused on creating meaningful guest experiences while preserving the ecological and cultural heritage of Dholavira. We remain dedicated to implementing responsible environmental practices and contributing positively to the local community and ecosystem. We are proud to be the first resort in the Kutch region to achieve this recognition, and we look forward to extending this commitment across our other hospitality destinations as well."

The certification is valid for three years, from 2026 to 2029, and recognizes the resort’s efforts to preserve local ecology while promoting responsible tourism and community engagement.
