Vedanta to Transform 1,000 Anganwadis into Nand Ghars in Bihar

Patna, July 18, 2026: Vedanta's flagship social impact initiative, Nand Ghar, under the Anil Agarwal Foundation, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Bihar, to transform 1,000 existing Anganwadi Centres into modern Nand Ghars across the state. The initiative is expected to benefit nearly 1,00,000 children, women and community members.

With this partnership, Bihar becomes the 18th state to join the Nand Ghar movement, which currently operates around 15,000 centres across 17 states. The initiative supports the Government of India's Saksham Anganwadi and POSHAN 2.0 programme by strengthening early childhood education, nutrition, healthcare and women's empowerment.

Each Nand Ghar will feature smart learning tools, child-friendly infrastructure, clean drinking water, sanitation facilities and dedicated spaces for women's skill development and community engagement. The centres are designed to provide pre-school education, nutrition services, primary healthcare and livelihood opportunities for rural women.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Anil Agarwal, Chairman, Vedanta, said, "Bihar has always held a special place in my heart, and it gives me immense joy to see the Nand Ghar movement begin its journey here. It is written in our ancient scriptures that the sanskar and shiksha given to a child up to the age of 6 makes a lifelong impact. Thousands of children of this age group from across the state will now have access to better nutrition, joyful learning and brighter opportunities, while women will find new pathways to become financially independent and build a better future for their families.
