New Delhi, November 10, 2025: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, has expanded its low-carbon product portfolio with the launch of Restora at its Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) plant in Korba, Chhattisgarh. This milestone reinforces the company’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing and its goal of achieving Net Zero Carbon by 2050.

Restora, manufactured using renewable energy, has a verified greenhouse gas (GHG) emission intensity below 4 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent per tonne of aluminium, meeting the global threshold for low-carbon aluminium. With this launch, BALCO joins Vedanta Aluminium’s Jharsuguda plant, which has been producing Restora and Restora Ultra (an ultra-low-carbon variant made from recovered aluminium) since 2022.

Currently, BALCO offers Restora ingots, with plans to expand into more value-added products to meet evolving industry needs.

“Restora has already set a benchmark in low-carbon aluminium production. With its introduction at BALCO, we are expanding our portfolio to sustainable aluminium across our operations,” said Rajiv Kumar, CEO, Vedanta Aluminium. “This is a strategic step in strengthening India’s position as a global hub for climate-conscious industrial growth.”

Rajesh Kumar, CEO and Director, BALCO, added: “Designed for industries like automotive, construction, electricals, packaging, and renewable energy, Restora enables our customers to build greener value chains and accelerate their transition to responsible manufacturing. While we have introduced Restora ingots, we have the capability to offer value-added products under the Restora brand to meet the evolving demands of our customers.”

The expansion of Restora production to BALCO is part of Vedanta Aluminium’s broader carbon reduction strategy, which includes improving operational efficiency and adopting clean energy sources. The company has already achieved an 8.96% reduction in GHG intensity since FY21.

Recognising aluminium’s role as the “metal of the future,” Vedanta Aluminium is integrating technology, operational excellence, and innovation through its Centre of Excellence, which focuses on developing products for emerging sectors such as electric mobility, renewable energy, aerospace, and infrastructure.

With the expansion of Restora, Vedanta Aluminium continues to strengthen its position as a global player in low-carbon manufacturing, driving India’s leadership in sustainable industrial transformation.
