Telangana,  February 13, 2026: United Breweries Limited (UBL), part of The HEINEKEN Company, has launched Project Jal Shakti, a flagship CSR initiative in Telangana’s Sangareddy district aimed at strengthening sustainable agriculture, groundwater recharge and biodiversity conservation.

Implemented in partnership with BharatCares, the project covers six gram panchayats—Malkapur, Kothlapur, Guntapalley, Gopulapuram, Haridaspur and Malepally. The initiative seeks to enhance farmer resilience through improved agricultural practices and water stewardship interventions.

As part of the programme, two renewable energy-powered Centres of Excellence (CoEs) have been established to support farmers and local communities. These centres will provide training on soil and water conservation techniques to improve crop productivity and promote sustainable farming. The CoEs are equipped with automatic weather stations that deliver real-time weather data, along with soil testing laboratories to enable informed agricultural decision-making.

To strengthen local water security, Project Jal Shakti includes the construction of a new check dam, rejuvenation of an existing check dam, and the deepening and widening of three irrigation channels. Additionally, over 1,200 native saplings are being planted to support ecosystem restoration and biodiversity enhancement.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by members of UBL’s CSR and ESG leadership, representatives from BharatCares, and local panchayat leaders, reflecting a collaborative approach to community development.

Garima Singh, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, United Breweries Limited, said, “Project Jal Shakti reflects our long-term efforts towards sustainable agriculture and water stewardship in the communities we operate in. By combining farmer capacity building, water conservation infrastructure, agroforestry and the Centres of Excellence, we are working towards building resilient livelihoods while restoring local ecosystems. Partnerships like these enable scalable and lasting impact for communities.”

Bhomik Shah, Trustee, BharatCares said, “Through the project, we are working closely with communities to promote sustainable farming practices and improve water availability. The CoEs will play a critical role in building long-term resilience for farmers in the region.”

With its integrated focus on agriculture, water infrastructure and biodiversity, Project Jal Shakti aims to create long-term environmental and livelihood benefits for rural communities in Sangareddy district.
