Theia Ventures Leads Pre-Seed Investment in Lemnisca to Advance AI-Driven Biomanufacturing

Bengaluru, November 28, 2025: Theia Ventures has led a pre-seed funding round in Lemnisca, a Bengaluru-based Bio-AI startup developing intelligent systems to accelerate and scale biomanufacturing. The round saw additional participation from PointOne Capital and Dr. Satakarni Makkapati. The investment will support Lemnisca’s lab operations, AI platform development and early pilot collaborations aimed at strengthening sustainable bioproduction.

Lemnisca is building an AI companion designed to help manufacturers scale fermentation-led bioprocesses more efficiently and predictably. As global industries transition to renewable feedstocks and biological alternatives to petrochemicals, biomanufacturing has emerged as a critical enabler for sustainable industrial production. Lemnisca’s platform combines wet-lab experimentation with computational modelling to monitor process biology and guide real-time decision-making, enabling faster and more reliable scale-up.

The company aims to reduce development timelines by up to 50%, improve operating efficiency by about 25% and accelerate adoption of renewable and waste-carbon feedstocks. It is inviting pilot partnerships across CDMOs, OEMs/SIs and global ingredient brands.

Priya Shah, Partner at Theia Ventures, said, “We are delighted to be early partners in Lemnisca’s journey, where we firmly believe that biomanufacturing in today's era needs advanced digital simulators that predict how microbial processes will perform before reaching large industrial scale. The team brings rich practical experience to support the symbiotic development of this product to be applied to nutraceutical markets.”

Pushkar Pendse, Co-founder & CEO, Lemnisca, said, “From day one, our question was simple: how do we make biomanufacturing the default manufacturing mode globally? Our focus is to build the digital operating system that brings biology from lab to factory, making scale-up faster, smarter, and globally accessible.”

Shilpa Nargund, Co-founder & CTO, Lemnisca, added, “We are rethinking everything, right from lab workflows to model architectures. The goal is fewer surprises at scale and faster, repeatable success.”

This investment marks Theia Ventures’ third deployment from its new fund, which recently announced its first close anchored by British International Investment. The fund has already backed Sarla Aviation and Climitra Carbon and plans to make three additional investments within the current financial year.
