New Delhi, July 17, 2026: Taj Palace, New Delhi has launched the Paathya Green Studio, an interactive sustainability engagement space under Paathya, the Indian Hotels Company Limited’s (IHCL) ESG+ framework. The initiative aims to encourage One Lakh Green Gestures by the end of the year through simple environmental actions involving guests, associates, patrons and children.
The Paathya Green Studio invites visitors to participate in activities such as making seed balls and taking home indigenous saplings, with the objective of promoting environmental awareness and community participation beyond the hotel premises.
The initiative also marks the hotel's milestone of surpassing 100,000 followers on social media, transforming the achievement into a campaign focused on environmental stewardship and public engagement.
As part of its inclusive approach, the Green Studio is led by Nitin, a naturalist on the autism spectrum associated with NGO Hara Jeevan. He will guide visitors through the studio, sharing knowledge about plants and encouraging interaction with nature, reflecting the hotel's focus on combining sustainability with inclusion.
The launch builds on Taj Palace, New Delhi's existing sustainability initiatives. The hotel holds both LEED Platinum and EarthCheck Platinum certifications and has implemented measures to reduce its environmental footprint. According to the hotel, it has achieved a 73.8% reduction in carbon emissions, 74.6% reduction in energy consumption, 72.2% reduction in waste generation, and 73.8% reduction in air pollutant emissions compared to the previous year.
The hotel also operates an in-house water bottling facility that eliminates the use of approximately 600,000 single-use plastic bottles annually, preventing nearly six tonnes of plastic waste each year. Additional sustainability initiatives include Innergise Green Meetings, which integrates environmentally responsible practices into meetings, conferences and events.
Commenting on the initiative, Praydhumna Singh Rathore, General Manager, Taj Palace, New Delhi, said, "At Taj Palace, New Delhi, we believe that hospitality has the power to inspire positive change. The Paathya Green Studio is an extension of that belief, creating a space where every guest can participate in simple actions that collectively make a meaningful difference. Our commitment to One Lakh Green Gestures is about building a movement that extends beyond our hotel into homes and communities. Equally important is the opportunity to make this journey inclusive. With the passion infused by our naturalist Nitin, the studio reflects our belief that environmental responsibility and social inclusion must go hand in hand."
Through the Paathya Green Studio, Taj Palace, New Delhi aims to encourage greater public participation in sustainable practices while integrating environmental responsibility and inclusive community engagement into the hospitality experience.
