Pune, September 24, 2025: Renewable energy company Suzlon has announced that it will transition its entire fleet of 655 owned and leased vehicles to electric by 2035, reducing direct emissions by 24%. With this move, Suzlon has joined the global EV100 initiative of Climate Group, becoming the first Indian renewable energy company to do so.
The transition will cover vehicles in the <3.5T and 3.5 -- 7.5T categories and forms part of Suzlon’s broader ESG commitments, which include achieving Net Zero Scope 1 emissions by 2035. The company had earlier pledged to power all its facilities with 100% renewable energy by 2030 under the RE100 initiative.
Mr. JP Chalasani, CEO, Suzlon Group, said, “Our ESG framework—anchored in Organization, Product, and Operations—fuels both our sustainability agenda and business growth. With the S144 turbine, we have set a new benchmark as India’s lowest carbon footprint wind solution. Through our RE100 and EV100 commitments, we are ensuring that clean energy is complemented by clean mobility. By embedding accountability across our value chain with responsible sourcing and supplier partnerships, Suzlon is advancing towards Net Zero well ahead of our stated targets.”
Suzlon’s decision reinforces its leadership role in India’s renewable energy sector and highlights its contribution to advancing the country’s Net Zero goals.
