Pune, August 19, 2025: Suzlon Group has announced its commitment to transition all 15 of its manufacturing facilities to run entirely on renewable energy by 2030, becoming the first Indian energy company to join the RE100 Initiative led by Climate Group and CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project).
The company’s pledge is part of a broader decarbonization roadmap, which includes achieving carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2035 and Net Zero across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 2040. Scope 1 refers to direct operational emissions, Scope 2 to indirect emissions from purchased electricity, and Scope 3 spans the entire value chain.
“Joining RE100 is a powerful affirmation of our belief that true leadership in renewable energy begins at home — in how we run our own operations. We are not just delivering clean power to the world; we are ensuring that every megawatt we produce is backed by a manufacturing process powered entirely by renewables. This commitment is both a responsibility to the planet and a promise to future generations — to lead by example, to innovate without compromise, and to embed sustainability into the DNA of everything we do,” said JP Chalasani, CEO, Suzlon Group.
Over the past year, Suzlon has reported notable progress toward its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals. The company achieved 92.87% carbon neutrality at the plant level, with its Rotor Blade Unit in Dhule powered by 100% renewable energy. It also recorded a 17.19% reduction in energy intensity compared to FY 2023–24 and cut Scope 1 and Scope 2 emission intensity by 88.51%. Renewable energy consumption increased by 80.7% during the same period.
Suzlon has also been recognized as the first Gold Member from India under the RE100 initiative, which brings together over 400 companies worldwide committed to using 100% renewable electricity.
Founded more than three decades ago, Suzlon has installed over 21 GW of wind energy capacity across 17 countries. Headquartered in Pune, the company operates research and development centers in India, Germany, the Netherlands, and Denmark, and employs more than 8,100 people.
