Siemens Energy India Launches Technology Centre to Train Goa’s Youth

Goa, October 27, 2026: Siemens Energy India Limited (SEIL) has launched its first Energy4Good Technology Centre at Government Polytechnic, Bicholim, Goa, to strengthen technical skills and improve employability among students of government-run polytechnic institutes. The centre was inaugurated by Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa.

Established under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, the centre will provide industry-oriented training through modern infrastructure, practical learning and technical education aligned with workforce requirements. It has the capacity to train up to 200 students annually.

The Goa facility is one of three Energy4Good Technology Centres established by SEIL during FY2026. The other two centres are located in Maharashtra and Gujarat. Together, the three facilities have an annual training capacity of more than 600 students.

Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, said, “Skill development is a key pillar of Goa's growth journey. The Energy4Good Technology Centre will provide students with hands-on exposure to modern industrial technologies, helping them become industry-ready and improving their employment prospects. I appreciate Siemens Energy India's contribution towards strengthening technical education and skilling in the state.”

Guilherme Mendonca, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Siemens Energy India Limited, said, “India’s energy transition requires a workforce that can keep pace with the scale and complexity of the infrastructure being built across the country. The Energy4Good Technology Center is focused on developing industry-ready talent by strengthening technical competencies at the grassroots level. By working closely with educational institutions and building their long-term training capabilities, we are creating a sustainable model that will continue to prepare future generations of skilled professionals.”

The initiative comes amid growing demand for skilled technical professionals across India’s energy, infrastructure and manufacturing sectors. The press release cites the India Skills Report 2026, which places employability among polytechnic graduates at approximately 33%, highlighting the need for industry-aligned training.

The centre’s curriculum has been developed following a skill-gap assessment involving consultations with industry, academia and other stakeholders. Training will cover programmable logic controllers (PLC) and drives, hydraulics and pneumatics, mechatronics, sensor technology, computer-aided design and Microsoft Office Suite.

Students will also learn efficiency and productivity improvement methods, including 5S, lean manufacturing, quality management, and environment, health and safety practices. Classroom instruction and laboratory sessions will be complemented by industry exposure. The programme also includes faculty capacity building to strengthen the institutes’ ability to deliver technical training.

The inauguration was attended by Mr. Premendra Shet, MLA, Mayem, Goa; Mr. Chandrakant Shetye, MLA, Bicholim, Goa; Mr. Bhushan Savaikar, Director of Technical Education, Government of Goa; Dr. Pramodini S. Naik, Principal, Government Polytechnic Bicholim; Ms. Swati Salgaocar, Independent Director, SEIL; Harish Shekar, Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer, SEIL; and Beena Dixit, Vice President and Head, People & Organization and CSR, SEIL.

The programme will be implemented over three years, covering infrastructure development, curriculum design, training delivery, faculty development and integration into regular academic programmes. The phased approach is intended to help participating institutes gradually build the capacity to operate the centres independently.
