SBI Observes Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 with Nationwide Cleanliness Drives

New Delhi | October 8, 2026: State Bank of India (SBI) conducted cleanliness, environmental and community welfare activities across its branches and offices under the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026 campaign from September 17 to October 2, 2026.

The campaign began with the administration of the Swachhata Pledge on September 17, followed by employee participation in activities aligned with the objectives of the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Government of India.

As part of the campaign, SBI employees participated in cleanliness and sanitation drives at bank premises, public spaces and community locations, including identified toilets and sanitation complexes. Activities also covered the cleaning of water bodies, awareness on waste segregation and responsible solid-waste management, and initiatives to reduce single-use plastic.

The campaign included Reduce-Reuse-Recycle (RRR) drives involving the collection, reuse and recycling of items such as books, toys, clothes, shoes and electronic goods, wherever undertaken. Tree plantation, environmental awareness programmes and competitions were also organised to encourage employee and community participation.

Beyond cleanliness, SBI undertook activities focused on the welfare and dignity of sanitation workers, known as Safai Mitras. These included awareness and facilitation around social security schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY).

Other activities included health check-up camps, distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) and support items, and felicitation of Safai Mitras, wherever undertaken.

According to SBI, the campaign aimed to reinforce awareness of sanitation, waste segregation, recycling, environmental sustainability and collective responsibility while encouraging community engagement.

The bank said it would continue promoting cleanliness, environmental stewardship and community welfare beyond the campaign period by incorporating these activities into its workplace and social initiatives.
