RSPL Group Launches Women’s Self-Help Groups in Kanpur
Kanpur, October 16, 2026: RSPL Group has launched the Ujjwal Sangini Swayam Sahayata Samuh initiative in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, to create livelihood opportunities for rural women through Self-Help Groups (SHGs). The programme aims to promote financial independence, community participation and awareness of personal hygiene and everyday well-being.
The launch event, themed Unkahi Baatein, brought together local women for discussions on their daily responsibilities, personal aspirations, children’s education and opportunities for a better future. The event also featured a product demonstration activity showcasing RSPL products.
Under the initiative, women participating in the SHGs, referred to as ‘Sanginis’, will engage with households in their villages and neighbouring communities through product demonstrations and sampling. They will also organise community activities to encourage conversations around health, hygiene and well-being.
SHGs have been formed in Shivrajpur, Ghatampur, Chaubepur, Kakwan and Bilhaur in Kanpur. On-ground demonstrations and product sampling activities are being prepared as part of the rollout.
Commenting on the initiative, Kushalta Gyanchandani, RSPL Group, said, “We believe empowering women at the grassroots is the need of the hour, and it goes beyond creating employment opportunities. Financial independence is important, but so is access to the right information on health and hygiene, and the confidence to participate in the community. The thought behind Ujjwal Sangini Swayam Sahayata Samuh was to bring these elements together and create opportunities for women to grow, and find a voice for themselves.”
The initiative is intended to provide women with opportunities to develop livelihoods while strengthening their engagement with local communities. Through regular household interactions, the Sanginis will also help improve access to products among rural consumers.
RSPL Group plans to extend the model to more densely populated blocks in other districts of Uttar Pradesh, with a long-term aim of expanding it to other parts of the country. The proposed expansion will focus on building a wider network of rural women involved in livelihood generation and community engagement.
