Pune, January 13, 2026: R.K. Behera, Chairman of RSB Group, has been conferred an Honorary Doctorate by NIT Jamshedpur at a ceremony where the honour was presented by the Droupadi Murmu. The recognition acknowledges his contributions to entrepreneurship, industry, and sustained social responsibility.
The honour recognises nearly five decades of Mr. Behera’s work in building industrial and entrepreneurial capacity, alongside consistent engagement in education and community development. Headquartered in Pune, RSB Group operates 18 manufacturing plants in India and overseas, including Mexico, with a continued focus on quality-driven manufacturing and operational discipline.
Mr. Behera’s association with NIT Jamshedpur spans over 52 years. An alumnus of the institute—formerly the Regional Institute of Technology (RIT)—he has credited his education for shaping his leadership values. As part of ongoing industry–academia engagement, RSB Group collaborates with NIT Jamshedpur students on digital twin initiatives, enabling practical application of engineering concepts alongside academic learning.
On receiving the Honorary Doctorate, Mr R.K. Behera said, “The honorary doctorate from NIT Jamshedpur, conferred at the ceremony by the Hon’ble President of India, is one of the most meaningful moments of my life. I see this recognition not as a personal achievement, but as a deeper responsibility towards society and the nation. The values imparted by my parents, the support of my family, and the guidance of my teachers have shaped my journey beyond business. Industry must play an active role in education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, rural development, and environmental protection.”
He further added, “Through RSB Group, we remain committed to strengthening grassroots initiatives, supporting skill development, and advancing sustainable practices. Climate change is a serious challenge, and industry must be part of the solution. This recognition reinforces my resolve to work with greater purpose for inclusive and long-term social impact.”
The recognition also reflects RSB Group’s broader commitment to social and environmental responsibility. Environmental responsibility remains a core priority, with commitments to reduce carbon emissions by 45 percent by 2030 and to accelerate renewable energy adoption and environmentally responsible manufacturing practices.
