Jaipur, August 08, 2025: The Royal Rajasthan Foundation (RRF), the social equity arm of Rajasthan Royals, has completed the solar electrification of 260 homes and the training of four solar engineers under its flagship initiative, Pink Promise. The project, supported by Luminous Power Technologies and implemented by Bindi International, has brought clean, reliable energy to 200 homes in the Sambhar block of Jaipur district, Rajasthan, and 60 homes in Assam, advancing equitable energy access for underserved communities.
Since its inception in 2019, RRF has worked to drive women-led transformation in rural Rajasthan and beyond, impacting over 15.2 million women. The Pink Promise initiative, launched on April 6, 2024, during a Rajasthan Royals IPL match where the team played in all-pink kits bearing the names of women beneficiaries, pledged to electrify six homes for every six hit during the game. With Luminous’ support, the target was doubled, resulting in 260 homes being solar-electrified.
Jake Lush McCrum, CEO of Rajasthan Royals, said, “Pink Promise represents our commitment to driving meaningful, long-term change through the platform of cricket. When we enable empowered women and communities with access to sustainable solutions like solar energy, we ignite transformation that lasts for generations. We’re proud to walk this journey with partners like Luminous and, most importantly, alongside the inspiring women beneficiaries who are truly at the heart of this movement.”
Preeti Bajaj, MD & CEO of Luminous Power Technologies, said, “The Pink Promise stands as a powerful testament to our core values. It's more than just a collaboration; it’s a commitment to empowering women and building a sustainable future. Through this initiative, we're not only bringing clean solar energy to homes, but we're also empowering women with the skills and knowledge to lead the charge. Every 'six' hit on the field translates into tangible change, lighting up a home and inspiring a brighter tomorrow.”
Harsh Tiwari, Director of Bindi International, added, “This partnership with Royal Rajasthan Foundation and Luminous brought clean energy to 260 homes and 120 public spaces, while training 4 women as solar engineers. When women lead energy access at the grassroots, the impact is sustainable, dignified, and lasting.”
The trained solar engineers are now leading installation efforts, as well as maintenance and repairs, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the intervention. To date, the initiative has impacted more than 1,500 lives. It has also received national recognition, with solar engineer Thavri Devi representing the initiative at the toss of the Pink Promise match and later receiving an award from the President of India.
The second edition of Pink Promise in 2025 aims to solar-electrify 520 additional homes and train 10 rural women as solar engineers. The expansion reinforces RRF’s approach to women-led sustainability, positioning women as both beneficiaries and drivers of change in their communities.
