Tamil Nadu, July 15, 2025: In recognition of World Youth Skills Day, Reddipalayam Cement Works, an integrated manufacturing unit of UltraTech Cement Limited in Ariyalur district, Tamil Nadu, reaffirmed its commitment to empowering rural youth through targeted digital and vocational training programmes.
UltraTech Cement Limited, India’s largest cement and ready-mix concrete company and part of the Aditya Birla Group, continues to invest in skill-building initiatives that promote entrepreneurship and economic independence in rural communities.
Aligned with the Group’s broader developmental vision, the company has trained over 1 lakh individuals across its unit locations in FY25. “Giving and caring is part of a generational legacy that courses through the veins of the Aditya Birla Group. This is also channelised through impactful projects that provide for sustainable livelihood. The objective is to train people in ways of eking out means to stand on their own feet, and live a life of dignity and self-esteem. At UltraTech, in sync with the Group’s developmental vision, this philosophy is the DNA of our company,” the company stated.
At the Reddipalayam unit, several ongoing skill development programmes—including tailoring, driving, and the production of phenyl, sambrani, camphor, and coffee powder—are tailored to meet local needs. These efforts have enabled youth to gain employment or start small businesses. More than 1,000 women from nearby villages have been trained in tailoring, with over 400 launching home-based enterprises.
By focusing on sustainable livelihoods and tailoring training to specific community needs, UltraTech aims to foster long-term economic resilience. The company emphasizes the importance of including women in development initiatives, especially those involved in household and agricultural work but lacking access to formal training.
UltraTech implements its social development efforts under the Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development, chaired by Mrs. Rajashree Birla. Its CSR initiatives span education, healthcare, sustainable livelihoods, community infrastructure, and other social causes, reaching over 1.8 million beneficiaries across 500 villages in 16 Indian states.
