New Delhi, April 12, 2026: Pukaar Animal Sewa Helpline, an animal rescue and welfare initiative, has expanded its services across Delhi NCR, emerging as a structured response system for street animal care. Within six months of operation, the helpline has responded to over 1,500 cases across Delhi, addressing emergencies involving injured, sick, and abandoned animals.

Launched with the aim of connecting citizens with timely animal care, Pukaar operates through a coordinated model that links communities with trained responders. This approach enables quicker interventions, medical support, and follow-up care for animals in distress.

Between September 1, 2025, and February 28, 2026, dogs accounted for the majority of cases (700+), followed by cats (60+) and cows (40+). The initiative has also extended support to a diverse range of animals, including monkeys, pigeons, oxen, jackals, goats, owls, and squirrels, reflecting its inclusive approach to animal welfare.

In addition to emergency rescues, the helpline is focusing on preventive healthcare measures. So far, it has administered over 350 anti-rabies vaccinations and conducted more than 200 deworming treatments. Sterilisation efforts have also been initiated, with over 30 procedures completed, contributing to humane population management and disease prevention.

Pukaar has also introduced grassroots interventions aimed at improving living conditions for street animals. This includes the installation of more than 20 drum beds across locations, providing safer resting spaces in urban environments.

The initiative is supported by Team Foundation, the CSR arm of Team Computers, and is driven by the vision of its founder, Ranjan Chopra. Alongside rescue operations, Pukaar is also promoting awareness through a podcast that features voices from the animal welfare ecosystem, including rescuers, veterinarians, and activists.

With its expansion across Delhi NCR, the Pukaar Animal Sewa Helpline is building a more responsive and community-driven ecosystem for animal welfare. The initiative continues to focus on both immediate rescue efforts and long-term solutions, encouraging greater public participation in the care and protection of street animals.
