New Delhi, June 9, 2025: OPPO has released its fifth annual Sustainability Report, announcing that it reached peak carbon emissions across its operations in 2022—two years ahead of its originally planned climate target. The report was launched on the occasion of the 54th World Environment Day and outlines the company’s progress in environmental responsibility, product innovation, community engagement, and corporate governance.
In 2024, OPPO reported a 3.2% year-on-year reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions, which the company equates to the annual carbon sequestration capacity of approximately 5,14,320 mature trees. Scope 3 emissions, primarily from the supply chain, were reduced by 9.3% compared to the previous year.
As part of its green product strategy, OPPO adopted lighter packaging across its smartphone range and introduced recycled materials derived from plant residues like sugarcane and bamboo. The company also implemented engineering improvements to enhance product durability.
In India, OPPO expanded its community engagement through the ‘Generation Green’ electronic waste awareness program, launched in partnership with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The initiative reached over 10 lakh college students across 476 educational institutions and resulted in the collection of 10,339 kg of e-waste. Over 5,000 student interns were involved in organizing local sustainability activities such as awareness sessions, e-waste art installations, and Green Day events.
OPPO’s facilities in India and Dongguan also contributed to environmental conservation by recycling and reusing a total of 76,165 tonnes of water through wastewater reuse systems.
Globally, the company donated over USD 62.6 million to public welfare organizations and carried out projects in areas including the environment, education, culture, and sports. As part of its partnership with UNESCO, OPPO donated 1,000 tablets to support youth education and cultural initiatives in Asia and Africa.
The company also highlighted its continued investment in innovation, reporting over 1,13,000 global patent applications, with 91% related to inventions. In 2024, AI features were integrated across its smartphone product line, offering more than 100 AI tools to 50 million users.
In line with its vision of inclusive technology, OPPO introduced accessibility features such as real-time speech-to-text, content magnification, and adaptive color correction to improve usability for people with visual and hearing impairments.
“Driven by our brand renewal – ‘Make Your Moment’, OPPO will propel sustainability to create an impact through green innovation and responsible technology,” the company stated in the report.
