mPokket Reports 176% Rise in Women’s Earnings Through CSR Programme

India, November 3, 2026: Digital lending platform mPokket has reported a 176% year-on-year increase in women's earnings through its Self-Reliance Unit at the Dakshini Prayash Empowerment Centre in Madurdaha, Kolkata, during the first full quarter after the centre opened. The organisation has also reported a full year of uninterrupted teaching at Knowledge Prabhat School in Birati, supported through its CSR funding for FY 2025-26.

The two programmes form part of mPokket's CSR initiatives, which focus on supporting the infrastructure and operational requirements of community organisations. The company's funding covered teacher salaries at Knowledge Prabhat School, run by Birati Globe Vision Society (BGVS), and infrastructure support for the Dakshini Prayash Empowerment Centre, developed in partnership with Dakshini Prayash and SVP.

At the Dakshini Prayash Empowerment Centre, the number of women participating in the Self-Reliance Unit increased from 13 to 30. The number of women earning between ₹3,000 and ₹9,000 per month also quadrupled, rising from three to 12.

The centre also conducted a three-part Financial Literacy Workshop series in collaboration with YFLO, Dhanvesttor and SVP. Each session recorded an average participation of 33 people, including 24 participants from Dakshini Prayash.

Plans for the centre include installing rooftop solar panels and a 5,000-litre rainwater harvesting system. These additions are expected to help reduce operating costs and support the centre's long-term sustainability.

Rajani Jalan, Chief Mentor at mPokket, said, “At mPokket, we think about CSR the way we think about credit, the invisible groundwork matters more than the visible moment. A teacher's salary and a production floor aren't glamorous line items, but a year on, the numbers show they're the ones that compound. That's the standard we hold our CSR spend to.”

Anubhuti Prakash, President, Dakshini Prayash, said, “The women who come through our doors don't need a handout, they need a place to build from. This past year showed us what happens when that place is stable enough to grow.”

At Knowledge Prabhat School in Birati, mPokket's CSR funding covered a full year of teacher salaries during FY 2025-26, helping the free English-medium school maintain uninterrupted classroom operations. The school serves 172 students and charges families ₹11 per month. During the year, students from the school also participated in district- and state-level competitions.

Gopinath Paul ('Chandan'), Secretary, Birati Globe Vision Society, said, “Quality education depends not only on providing children with access to a school, but also on ensuring continuity in teaching and learning. mPokket’s support towards total operating Cost for the throughout the year has helped us maintain this continuity at Knowledge Prabhat School for Underprivileged Students, allowing our teachers to remain focused on nurturing each child’s learning and development. We believe that sustained support for teachers creates a stronger foundation for children to learn, grow in confidence and realise their potential”

The two programmes have involved several partners. The Empowerment Centre was developed through a partnership between Dakshini Prayash, SVP and mPokket, while the financial literacy workshops involved YFLO, Dhanvesttor and SVP. Other organisations supporting the initiatives include Young Indians, GRIRR, Help Us Help Them, PAPSVI and Little Smile Dental Clinic, which has supported health and dental camps for the community.

After working with communities in West Bengal for 10 years, mPokket is extending its CSR initiatives to Bengaluru and other locations in Karnataka. It is partnering with MASS in Belgaum and Vedan Trust to support work in education, community empowerment and sustainability.

Through MASS, the company aims to support children from ex-Devadasi, Dalit and other vulnerable communities through higher education scholarships, child education support and youth empowerment initiatives. In Bengaluru, its collaboration with Vedan Trust will explore a waste management project at KR Market, focusing on waste collection and segregation, vendor engagement and community awareness.

The initiatives reflect mPokket's focus on supporting foundational infrastructure and working with local organisations to address education, livelihood and environmental sustainability needs.
