Marico Trains 200+ Coconut Farmers on Sustainable Farming in Coimbatore

Tamil Nadu, September 2, 2026: Marico Limited marked World Coconut Day 2026 with a farmer empowerment programme under the Parachute Kalpavriksha Foundation (PKF), bringing together more than 200 coconut farmers in Kovilpalayam, Coimbatore, for training on sustainable and scientific cultivation practices.

The programme combined expert-led sessions with a model farm exposure visit, focusing on soil health management, integrated farm management, crop resilience and productivity enhancement. Farmers received practical guidance on agronomic practices and observed their application through field demonstrations.

A key session was led by Dr. N. Dhandapani, who shared guidance on scientific cultivation techniques, soil nutrition and integrated farm management. Participants also visited a model coconut farm to learn about sustainable cultivation methods, efficient irrigation and crop management practices. Quality coconut seedlings were distributed to the participating farmers.

Launched nine years ago on World Coconut Day, the Parachute Kalpavriksha Foundation is focused on promoting scientific farming practices across coconut-growing regions. According to Marico, the programme had enrolled more than 2.05 lakh farmers across 4.97 lakh acres as of FY26.

The programme provides farm advisory services, expert support and digital interventions, including the Kalpavriksha App. Marico said enrolled farmers have recorded more than 15% differential productivity through these interventions.

The Coimbatore programme forms part of PKF’s broader efforts to strengthen farmer capacity, promote sustainable agricultural practices and support resilience in coconut-growing communities.
