Mumbai, April 13, 2026: LTM, a Larsen & Toubro Group company, has announced the rollout of “Universal AI,” a foundational artificial intelligence learning programme developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Open Learning, for its workforce in collaboration with upGrad Enterprise.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening AI capabilities across LTM’s talent pool, covering both technical and non-technical employees. It reflects the company’s focus on equipping its workforce with scientific thinking, first-principles reasoning, and decision-making skills required in an AI-driven economy.

The Universal AI programme is a self-paced learning experience designed by MIT faculty. It includes 16 foundational and domain-specific modules that explain how AI systems work, the technologies behind them, and the ethical considerations surrounding their use. The course is accessible to learners at all levels and does not require prior coding experience.

Strategic workforce upskilling is essential to building impactful AI-led solutions. Deploying this cutting-edge MIT Open Learning program through our upGrad partnership will strengthen our AI expertise that will define the next era of innovation.”

Ronnie Screwvala, Chairperson & Co-Founder, upGrad, added, “Providing upskilling opportunities in AI to employees in turn bridges capability gaps with the speed, scale, and precision. It builds a future-ready workforce that can develop innovative AI-led solutions for diverse industries, with social and economic impact in mind. At upGrad Enterprise, we bring our deep expertise in outcome-driven workforce development to build a powerful global skilled workforce, and we are very excited to partner with LTM to implement this.”

The programme will be delivered through upGrad Enterprise, which will facilitate deployment and integration across LTM’s workforce. Upon completion, participants will receive credentials from MIT Open Learning, certifying their understanding of AI fundamentals and readiness to apply these skills in professional settings.

This initiative is part of LTM’s broader strategy to institutionalise AI fluency across its organisation and build a workforce capable of driving innovation, productivity, and long-term value creation in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
